Hi there, just a tad confused. I saw in the configuration of the social share the option to show the different social network buttons, but none of these show on the site. Am I missing something here? To clarify - this is only in the JomSocial Section, not the site as a whole. Joomla core articles display this fine.

Many thanks,
Jude

Jude,
The social buttons aren't added automatically to every page. To do that, you'd need to use our modules or easy tags to add them to those pages. For Joomla content, we do have an automated way to do it, but every extension is different, so there's not a simple way to add it properly to every extension and each view.

I hope that makes sense. If you need help adding the social buttons to other areas of your site, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex, I did create a module to do this, but I think the Joomla display (not JomSocial) must be automatic as I do see the Share right at the bottom of the page, but it's just share with Facebook so I have disabled it. I'd appreciate your help. What I need is the various links (I've attached a screen shot) to show in Jomsocial, e.g. activity stream, groups, photos - all the things that most of us would share. The "share" file attached is the links I'm after.

However I have noticed another oddity - I've attached another file "activity share" and you can see there two different icons for the like buttons. I'm thinking that perhaps I need to check if I have disabled this function in JomSocial...

I appreciate your help, especially on a weekend, thank you
Jude

hi there, so sorry to trouble you, but I was hoping you may be able to assist - I need to have the site up and running for the public by the weekend if possible, and while I'm sure you have a lot to attend to I would be most grateful if you could perhaps find a little time for this in your busy schedule.

Thanks so much,
Jude

Jude,
Sorry for the delayed response. For adding the social buttons to the Activity Stream, please see this post . That should explain the edits you'd need to make to the JomSocial template files.

That's useful for adding the button to each activity update. For other areas of JomSocial, you'd likely want to just use the JFBCLike module to add the button to those pages since that will add it to all of the pages quickly instead of having to modify individual JomSocial template files.

I hope that helps get you going,
Alex

Hi Alec - I have had a look at this and just have a question. It seems the article relates to the Facebook module - I am also wanting the other networks as currently displayed in the screenshot above. Are they included in this?

Right now, the social buttons are all in different modules. We'll be releasing a unified social module in the next major release.

Until then, if you're adding the tags, you can add {SCGooglePlusOne}{JLinkedShare}{JFBCLike}{SCTwitterShare} wherever you want the buttons to display and that will do what you're looking for. We'll be revamping the social system in the coming releases to make integration into different areas of your site easier.

I hope that helps answer your question, but if you have any others, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex, I confess I'm an utter novice, learning as I go along so please forgive my ignorance - no doubt I'm a tad irritating...

I did the following:

Created a com_community folder in my template/html folder
Copied activities.index.php into this folder
I amended the lines indicated in the referred article as follows:

// Show debug message

if(empty($html))

{

// enable only during stream debugging

// echo 'UNPROCESSED STREAM POST: ' . $act->app;

$showStream = false;

}

?>

{JFBCLike show_send_button=false href=<?php echo str_replace(JUri::base(true).'/', '', JUri::base()) . CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&userid='.$act->actor.'&act='.$act->id); ?>}{SCGooglePlusOne}{JLinkedShare}{SCTwitterShare}

</li>

Nothing shows on the activity stream.

This is what I am trying to add:

Once again, my apologies if I'm missing relevant things - it doesn't help being under pressure to get this completed by the weekend. =)

Thank you for your help

So yes, I'm a nag :=D I'm also really sorry... My time frame is shrinking rapidly and if you could spare a moment for this I would grovel in abject appreciation....

Thanks,
Jude
