I am using JFBConnect in my video sharing website www.vishvas.tv. Though this is my second subscription but I am not very much expert in configuring it properly to use with my site.

As my site is completely based on a video sharing component HWDMediashare, content plugins are of no use for me. So I have to use system plugin for sharing buttons and facebook comments. First I tried to achieve this using Custom HTML module, which worked but didn't look good. Then somehow I managed to insert system plugin tags i.e.{JFBCLike}{SCTwitterShare} & {JFBCComments} into my video sharing component template and I have to disable default sharing/commenting available in that component to make this work properly.

Now it started to work properly, but the problem is with JFBCLike button. When a user click on like button and share it on his facebook wall, the entry is posted there as

"User likes an article on Vishvas TV."

whereas it should be " user watched/likes a video on Vishvas TV"

I don't know how to do this? Please help!!

one more thing I want to ask... Is there any way to use two Like buttons one is only for Like and other is to Share some video on facebook wall? I searched but could not find this?

Please check my website www.vishvas.tv and suggest if I am doing it right or not..

Thanks

Vishvas,
This is a known issue with JFBConnect and HWDVideoShare. The problem is that HWDVideoShare is setting the Open Graph 'type' tag to 'video' and then JFBConnect is overwriting that value and setting it to 'article'. What you can do though is use JFBConnect to re-set the type back to video. To do so, install and enable the Open Graph - Custom plugin that comes with JFBConnect. Then, go to the Open Graph area of JFBConnect and click into "Objects". Create a New Custom Object.

For the "type" set it to "video" and check the "Built-in Facebook Object" box. Set the name to anything you want, like HWDVideos.

Then, in the URL Query Params, you'll need to set the URL parameters that are for any video pages in HWD Video Share using the non-SEF values. For instance, if you disable SEF (temporarily) and go to a video page, the URL may look like:

index.php?option=com_hwdvideoshare&view=video&id=12

Then you'd put:
option=com_hwdvideoshare
view=video
That will add the video tag for any of those types of pages, regardless of the id of the video. Please note that I'm completely making up the URL above, I don't know HWD very well, but hopefully that gets you the gist..

I know this seems like an annoying hoop to go through (and it is), but once the object stuff is properly setup, you can starting creating Open Graph Actions like "I watched" that can be automatically posted to a user's Timeline when they watch a video. Alternatively, with the upcoming v5.1 release, you could easily add sharing buttons for "I watched", "I liked", "I want more" etc and let user's post messages along with those actions back to their Timeline.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

I already did that except adding "URL Query Params"... now thats also done, and I've also created an action "Watch" which is connected to object video.

But now when I click on Like button on any page of my site, the comment window appears for a second and then disappears. I've tried clearing cache and using other browser but this behaviour is same.

what's wrong i've done?? :/ :rolleyes:

Those new features would be cool.... waiting for ver. 5.1... :) =)

Edit:
ohh... I forgot to mention that the url of a video page in hwdmediashare is as follows:-
http://www.vishvas.tv/index.php?option=com_hwdmediashare&view=mediaitem&id=298:wonder-of-wonders-album-3&Itemid=109

and I added the following lines into URL query Params...

option=com_hwdmediashare
view=mediaitem

There is still some problem with Like button but it appears randomly on some pages while not on the others

for example Like Button is not working properly on these pages. After clicking the button the box appears and disappears in 1 second and Like button looks like it has not been clicked.

Vishvas,
After you update the Open Graph settings, it can take Facebook up to 48 hours to detect the changes and update their cached values. You can always use the Facebook URL Debug Tool to check the changes immediately, which also has the benefit of updating their cache.

I hope you're happy with how things are going, but if you need any more assistance, just let us know. Also, when v5.1 is out, feel free to post back here and we'll gladly help you get button / popups working so user's can post the "I watched this video" to their Timeline along with a message. We'll have some good documentation available with the new release as well.

Thanks,
Alex

The Like button is working on those pages now. As I noted above:

After you update the Open Graph settings, it can take Facebook up to 48 hours to detect the changes and update their cached values. You can always use the Facebook URL Debug Tool to check the changes immediately, which also has the benefit of updating their cache.

If a feature of Facebook isn't working on a page, run it through the Facebook URL debug tool and then test again. That fixes most issues by updating Facebook's cache immediately. For the pages you referenced above, waiting likely fixed the problem on it's own.

I hope that helps,
Alex
