Hi,

I'm using the latest EasyBlog on j3.0.3 and have tried to submit a built-in FB Read action, but get this msg:

"Publish Actions
You must publish at least one action to your Timeline using this action type. Review the documentation."

The built-in FB Article object was able to be submitted and EasyBlog postings are showing up on my FB-page. I have read several threads here and elsewher, but must admit I'm new to all this FB-stuff and am at a loss what to do. Could you please give me some directions?

Kindly,
Kaliya

Kaliya,
Can you check the Open Graph -> Activity log in JFBConnect and make sure your action shows as published there for a user? There is a different type of posting functionality built-in to EasyBlog, so I want to make sure you're using our Open Graph feature, and not the Easy Blog post to wall feature.

For more information on configuring these types of posts, and how to make sure you've tested them properly before submitting, please see our Open Graph Actions for Joomla guide. If you still have questions, let us know what steps you've taken from that guide or anywhere you've gotten stuck.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for your fast and thorough reply :)

I have attached the log as an image for you - hope it gives some indication.

Kaliya,
None of the actions in your Activity Log you posted were actually published. They all had errors of some sort, so I don't think you've successfully posted to your Timeline. Additionally, none of the actions posted look to be "read" actions, instead they look to be "rate" actions.

Have you gone through our Open Graph Action guide ? The guide goes through the read action. We're working on updating that guide to cover other action types, like Rate, as well, but it's very similar.

Finally, I'm not sure why you are getting the "Active token required" errors in the log. The other error about "Unknown path /rate" means that you likely haven't created the "Rate" action properly or set it as a "built-in" action in JFBConnect when it's probably shouldn't be marked as 'built-in".

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

You wrote: "There is a different type of posting functionality built-in to EasyBlog, so I want to make sure you're using our Open Graph feature, and not the Easy Blog post to wall feature.

I have therefore disabled the Autoposting feature for EasyBlog FB, but am not sure how JBF Connect does it instead and whether it's automatic, or I have to do something to make it work?

I have now followed you instructions/info, recreated my FB-page and app plus followed the Open Graph Action guide. Here's the log attached, showing an error.

It sounds like you may have the Open Graph Action configured correctly, but somewhere you've set a parameter for "Facebook Administrator IDs" to an incorrect value. I know EasyBlog has just such a value, and you should check the ID you put in there. It should either be blank (probably our recommendation) or it should be the FB User ID of the admin of your application.

Once that's removed/fixed, the actions will hopefully post. At the very least, they will have a different error message that we can help you debug as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

After asking Admin Tools Pro to send me email notifications on any security exception, I got a mail right after testing the app, stating the reason as:

IP Address: 65.52.0.210 (IP Lookup: ip-lookup.net/index.php?ip=65.52.0.210)
Reason: tmpl= in URL

After disabling the setting:

Visual Fingerprinting Protection / Allow site templates

- from No to Yes, the log shows no error anymore and the read action registers correctly on Facebook.

I'll let you know if anything else comes up in this regard and thank you for your kind help.

Best,
Kaliya

Kaliya,
Thanks for the report of what works for you. Our Open Graph actions don't set the tmpl parameter, but if you found a setting that fixes your issue, that's definitely good to hear and know for future reference.

Definitely keep testing and let us know how things go. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly from here.

Best of luck,
Alex
