After a new install I'm getting the following:

Error
Your Subscriber ID was not associated with an active JFBConnect subscription.

I'm using the ID from the site. Am I missing a step somewhere?

Please make sure you're using the correct Subscriber ID. You can find it by going to the My Account -> My Profile area in the top right. Your Subscriber ID is a 32-character string of characters and numbers.
