When you save a Joomla article JFB automatically posts the information on Facbook. In the dutch language. The website where we use JFB Connect uses Falang to translate the website also in French, German and English. Each language has it's own page/channel on Facebook. How can we post the information to the other languages? For instance does every language needs it's own Joomla article?

Thank you for your help,

Regards,
Robert

Does each piece of content have it's own URL? The issue users usually run into with multi-lingual sites is that Open Graph tags are set on a per-URL basis. They are set and Facebook will periodically fetch the URL and grab the Open Graph tags. That means that you can't set different open graph tags on the same URL for different languages... it's one set of tags per URL.

If that's not the case, then you should be able to set Open Graph tags on each language variant of your content, and that should work. However, if you're having issues with that, please explain any more details you can of your setup and we'll gladly help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry for the late respons Alzander.
The Dutch link to a ship can be something like www.doevemakelaar.nl/nl/schip/860/skutsje-15-72
The link to the German page of this ship is www.doevemakelaar.nl/de/schip/860/skutsje-15-72
The only difference is /nl/ or /de/ (and /fr/ and /en/ for the French and English page). If I understand your explanation correctly it should be possible to set different open graph tags because each language has it’s own unique url.
Each language has it's own category in com_content. And a category has an opengraph object which is linked to the Facebook channel for the specific language.

I'm sorry for the delayed response in getting back to you.

It's good that each language variant has it's own URL. I'm not familiar with Falang or how it works. I just know about the Joomla language manager system. With Joomla's system, you can create a unique article for each language and you'd setup a different Open Graph 'object' for each category and then setup the Channels feature to post any new content from those objects to the Facebook Page you want.

Each language has it's own category in com_content. And a category has an opengraph object which is linked to the Facebook channel for the specific language

This sounds very similar to what we'd recommend for the Joomla language manager. Have you setup an Object for each language category you have? If not, please enable the Open Graph - Content plugin and set that up. Then, you should be able to setup the Channels appropriately for each language object/category you have.

I hope that helps get you started, but if you are still running into issues setting things up, please let us know where you've gotten to and what problems you have.

Thanks,
Alex
