Topic-icon Invalid Scopes: manage_pages, publish_page

Hello,
I tried to configure a channel facebook but unfortunately after I followed this instruction

The selected user has not granted the "XYZ" permission. Please have them login on the front-end of the site and accept the correct permission. The user has linked their social network account to their Joomla account. However, to post to the configured channel, additional permissions are required from this user.
Save the channel in the backend, so that JFBConnect will remember that it needs to prompt the user on the next login.
The user that will be the channel owner should then login to the front-end using the selected social network provider and approve any additional permissions prompts.
After approving the prompts, refresh the channel in the backend and hit save.

Facebook returns the subject error tbah I report below

Invalid Scopes: manage_pages, publish_pages. This message is only shown to developers. Users of your app will ignore these permissions if present. Please read the documentation for valid permissions at: developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/permissions

Can Someone help me to configure the channel?

Thks

Those are valid permissions. However, your app is not able to ask those permissions from any users until you've gone through the Facebook Application review process. You can read more about the process in our recent blog post, Facebook App Review Explained .

With that said, you can test or allow your admins to see those permissions by putting your Facebook App into "Development" mode. To do so, hit the slider in the top right of your app in the Facebook Developer Area . Once in Development mode, any Facebook Admins of your app can authenticate on your site and will get that permission. The permission will 'stick' with the user even after you've made the app Live again, which is usually enough for most users of JFBConnect to avoid the full App Review process. You only need to go through App Review if you're going to ask non-admins those permissions, which isn't common.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, please let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

I'm trying to fix the same "scopes" problem and tried the Development Mode fix.

Didn't work as when I tried to login into the site with my developer FB account it refused the login with the same "scopes" error.

Worse though is that when I tried to reset to production mode FB says the Privacy Policy URL is wrong. Well it isn't.

What do I do now?

OK I can now switch development mode on and off. The privacy policy error has gone away on its own.

Still can't get the FB Developer account to log into the site. Message is invalid scopes publish_actions which is slightly different to the main topic of this thread.

I did have a channel enabled for FB but I've disabled it.

You'll need to delete the old channel from an earlier version of JFBConnect and recreate it. That should hopefully get you going. Facebook changed the permissions required for posting. JFBConnect updated to use the new permissions, but there are cases where older versions of JFBConnect that used the previous permissions/scope do not get updated properly when upgrading.

If deleting the channel doesn't work, then you need to go one step further by deleting the channel and then deleting your user from the Usermap area (not the actual Joomla user!) and re-authenticate on the front -end. Then you can recreate the channel again from scratch and your user will be requested the proper permissions.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, please let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

When I looked at the User Map for FB I discovered I was unauthorised. Deleted from the User Map, visited the site again and was logged in with FB automatically.

Now I'm back in the User Map as authorised. Magic!
