Good afternoon,

After performing an update of JFBConnect (and I suppose in the process updating SCLogin as well) to the latest version (v8),
when I login (no matter whether the account is linked to one or more social profiles), I get to a blank page with the following error message:
0 - Call to undefined method stdClass::get()
If I look in the backend, I can see that the user is apparently logged in succesful.

Any ideas on what is causing this and more importantly how it can be solved?

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

From that description, I'd suspect the problem being the profile fields that you have mapped to import when creating a user or logging in. Facebook has changed the fields that are available and we've also changed how we do the mapping in this release. Therefore, please make sure that 1) you have run Autotune to fetch the "Network Settings" fields and 2) go into the JFBConnect > Profiles area and make sure your fields are mapped appropriately still.

If that doesn't resolve the error, please read our blog post on changes in JFBConnect and follow the other steps listed under each "After you upgrade or install" section.

Let me know if this helps resolve the issue or if you continue having the problem.

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for the feedback.

As for points 1 & 2:
I did go through the autotune proces. (at first not succesful because of the FB app being in submission for review, but then I cancelled the submissing seeing that I apparently need other/additional permissions which in turn let me finish the autotune)

Under "JFBConnect > Profiles" nothing shows but the following info: "No JFBConnect Profile plugins are currently enabled."

Furthermore I did check all the "After you upgrade or install" parts from the blog post on the latest version and took action where needed.

Last but not least: given all the changes that FB made, I'm trying to figure out the exact permissions tha tI need to add in my Facebook app submission in order to be able to continue using functionality like the SCSocial Stream & the (automatic) posting of articles to the FB page and/or group. (publish_pages, manage_pages & publish_to_groups I guess)
And in order to be able to complete the (new) submission, one needs to be able to show/prove how the permission is used.
And therefore I do need to be able to login :-)

So I guess I'll be needing some further assistance.

Kind regards,
Matt.

Matt,

I was able to register with my Facebook credentials and able to see the error that you're describing. However, the strange thing is that it's only happening on some pages, but not all.

Random examples of not working:
www.psvbadmintonbrugge.com/CMS30/
www.psvbadmintonbrugge.com/CMS30/index.p...mpetitie/organisatie

Examples of working:
www.psvbadmintonbrugge.com/CMS30/index.php/inloggen/details
www.psvbadmintonbrugge.com/CMS30/index.p...worden/algemene-info
www.psvbadmintonbrugge.com/CMS30/index.php/psvbcmedia/foto-s

After logging in on the front-end, could you try to disable the JFBCSystem plugin and see if the error is resolved when you refresh the page? With that plugin disabled, the JFBConnect functionality won't be loaded.
* If the error still persists, that would point in the direction of it possibly being another plugin.
* If the error resolves with JFBCSystem disabled, could you send me backend access to your site? You can send a private message with the envelope icon under my avatar. I'd like to see how you have JFBConnect configured, open graph settings, etc to see if there's something that sticks out.

Hi Melissa,

I followed up on your suggestions, but I am still getting the same error.

Can you help explain what suggestions you tried?

As Melissa mentioned, if you disabled the JFBCSystem plugin and still get the error, then the problem is likely not due to JFBConnect at all and related to some other extension. If that's true, then I'd try going even further and:
* Disable the JFBConnect Authentication, Content, System and User plugins.
* Disable any plugins in the Open Graph group
* Disable any plugins in the Social Profiles group
At that point, JFBConnect will be completely disabled.

Then, try authenticating with the standard Joomla login module. If you still have the error, it's definitely not related to JFBConnect. If you the error goes away, please re-enable the plugins starting at the top of the list above (authentication, content, system and user first) and test until the error appears again. Let us know what plugin causes the problem when it's enabled.

With that, we should be able to dig in further, but right now, we're still a bit in the dark.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I followed your instructions

* Disable the JFBConnect Authentication, Content, System and User plugins.
* Disable any plugins in the Open Graph group
* Disable any plugins in the Social Profiles group
At that point, JFBConnect will be completely disabled.

but the error persisted.

What I now did is restore a backup from before the error (so where JFBConnect & SCLogin were at the version before 8.0) and now the login works again.
In the attached screenshot you can also see what updates are awaiting installation.

Should I just update JFBConnect & SCLogin and see if it keeps working?
Or do you want to have a look in the backend first to check some settings?

Awaiting your feedback,

KR,
Matthias.

If the error persisted after disabling all of that, I'd have to say that JFBConnect is not related to the problem.

If you already restored, we can't really investigate that any further. I would recommend testing thoroughly to make sure it works on the restored backup properly. Then upgrade again and test. If it happens again, please send us super admin access to your site and we can investigate further.

You can Private Message me by clicking the mail icon under my name to the left.

There was no attachment in the post. When you click the Attachment icon, please click the green arrow next to an image to actually insert it into the post. I would recommend upgrading only one thing at a time and testing. If that's all the other extensions while staying at an older JFBConnect version, that's fine, or JFBConnect first and then the other extensions... either way, install as little as possible each time, test and move forward slowly.

I hope that helps,
Alex
