Number of social shares counter was created by kkings

I am using the social share buttons at the bottom of every page. I have used the layout style of “button” which means visitors do not see how many times a page has being shared (for now I think that looks best). I have a few questions:

1) Does it still count the number of shares?
2) Is there a way I can see the number of shares?
3) If I change the layout style to “box count” later on will it show the historical count number?
4) Going forward can I switch between “button” and “box count” (or any layout style) and not lose any historic counts.

The counts are tied to a specific URL. When a share is performed, the count will increase for that URL whether the number is displayed to the user or not. Changing the layout of the buttons does not change the count, just the presentation of the data. You are safe to swap between the display options to make it look the best for your needs.

If you go to Facebook's page for the Share Button you can enter the same URL and other desired parameters in the "Share Button Configurator" section. But there's not a way to see it directly on your website without changing the layout.

You can inspect the share button in your Web Developer tools of your browser to find the specific URL that's being shared.
