In general, my guess is that we won't do what that site does anytime soon. JFBConnect has vast social network integration for your site to ease registration and allow users to share back to the social networks. Curating your audience is a whole separate type of development. It would be neat, but not something easy to manage within the Joomla interface. A separate cloud offering like you linked to is the best choice for that type of engagement.
