OK, been chasing this one for days. Now we have come down to whats really happening. When users use FB to register with the site, they are registered with Joomla but not CB. The only way I can get that to work is to manually synchronize users. Any thoughts?

The users receive a Pending email as well when they shouldn't. This site is running CBSubs as well.

We've never tested with CBSubs before. Until earlier this year, that was an encrypted extension, which made it impossible to diagnose any issues with. Since it became open-source, we simply haven't had any questions about it. I know that users have made JFBConnect and CBSubs work together before though, but it may be part of the problem you're having.

With that said, the main reasons that a user isn't created in CB when registering through JFBConnect is if you have required fields set that aren't being imported into. If there are required fields that don't have any value, CB will reject the user and not save them. I would check your CB Fields and make sure that *no* fields are marked as required that don't have a 'mapping' setup in our Profile area. JFBConnect won't show all the fields from CB, since we can only import into certain field types (text, textrarea, birthday, etc). If you have other fields (radio, select, etc) marked as required *or* a text field marked as required but not 'mapped' to a Facebook field, that is likely the problem.

The easiest test is to go into CB and make all fields "not required". Then, test again. If that works, start enabling the "Required" setting on a few fields at a time until it breaks again and then investigate the problem.

Alternatively, you can switch to "Normal" registration and register that way, since you'll be forced to fill out the fields during registration. That's also a viable option if you have to have some fields marked as required that we can't import into.

If none of that helps, I'd say to try disabling CBSubs (temporarily) to see if that fixes the problem. If so, hopefully we can help you re-enable it.

Hope that all helps get you started, but if you still have issues, let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Great advice. I'll start there, make all fields optional then go one by one until we find the culprit, if there is one :)

An update. I wound up installing and using CB Connect FB and LI features since they seemed to work the way we expected with CB and CBSubs. What we were wanting is when you Click FB or LI, for the account to be created, any profile info from those sites used to fill in information, then automatically subscribe them to a default subscription.

The required fields were stopping your FB component from fulling registering and activating the accounts, due to some required fields. Which then stopped the CB Auto Actions plugin from firing which then auto-subscribed the users to a plan.

I guess the CB guys coded something different to get around the required fields so that registration would complete?

I'm glad you found the issue. The CB team definitely knows their software, and ways around their own limitations, then we do. We have some ideas on the table on how to save users even if all the required fields aren't filled out.

However, it really hasn't been an issue in the past. Users of JFBConnect haven't had a problem setting only the required fields they are able to access. So, it is something we'll look into, but I don't have a timeline on when it may be implemented. I'm sorry you aren't able to use JFBConnect for the current project, but hopefully you're ok with your current solution.

If you do need anything else from us, definitely let us know. We will be looking into the above issue more and hopefully we'll be able to get JFBConnect and CB to work together how you want it to work.

Thanks,
Alex
