After several attempts to install JFBConnect this is the message I continuously get.

Facebook API Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

Can someone advise, what am I doing wrong?

I am using Joomla 1.5, CB 1.3 and JFBConnect 3.0.3. This is what I get on the front end.

* Facebook API Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed
* There was an issue importing your Facebook avatar. The default avatar will be used.
* Facebook API Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

Your server does not have updated SSL root certificates and therefore is unable to verify that Facebook.com is authenticate. You should contact your hosting provider to see if they can update your server certificates.

As a workaround, if you go to the Configuration area of JFBConnect and click on Facebook API Configuration, you can set Disable SSL Certificate Validation to Yes, and your problem will be fixed.

HI!!, , I'm having the same problem with JFBConnect, it appears :

Facebook API Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

And I have the correct parameters in facebook APPS. I'm using Joomla 1.7, and the last version of JFBConnect 3.4.1; this error message appears when I click the overview option in JFBConnect Component. HELP!

Robmur,
I'm assuming since you posted in this thread, that you followed the step called out above, but I need to check. Specifically:

Go to the Configuration area of JFBConnect and click on Facebook API Configuration, you can set Disable SSL Certificate Validation to Yes, and your problem will be fixed.


If you did that and are still having the issue, please let us know. If so, that'll be an issue we've never heard of before, and will likely need access to your site to diagnose further.
