Thanks for that info, it seems to be an issue with the setting in JFBConnect when I set it to not make a password. With auto generation it seemed to show the message properly.

I am pretty convinced now that what is needed is authentication plugin. You can login to Joomla through Mijocart, but you can not login to Mijocart from Joomla. Everything else seems to work fine but the login process.

I think mijosoft overlooked the necessity of the authentication plug, as I think you lose all the flexibility and benefit of having Opencart integrated with Joomla. It seems not too much better than an iframed open cart in a Joomla wrapper if you can't take full advantage of Joomla. I am waiting patiently to see if they can address this , but they seem to have a small dev team since splitting from Joomace.

I am hopefull as they have been decent to try to fix issues that I have had, but I don't expect to have it solved anytime soon. I am trying to see if I can write one based on other authentication plugins and the code in mijocart but I am not a coder so I don't expect to make much progress. I guess we will see! I will update if any progress is made.

By playing with the order of the plugins it seems mijoshop works with the normal joomla login and registration. But it seems that JFBConnect is preventing it from also loggin into mijoshop. Would that still be in Mijoshops court to troubleshoot since it seems to work with standard joomla login? It is adding the user as registered user in joomla and mijoshop, just not loggin into mijoshop.

I'm facing the same hurdle. I opened a ticket with MijoSoft and received the following reply:

"Unfortunately, the problem is with the JFBConnect which does not create users with the normal Joomla standards so you should contact them to fix this issue. You can say them that MijoShop works fine with normal Joomla login so you should fix your code. Also, you can try another Facebook Connect extension for Joomla."

When I pointed out this thread to them, they responded with the following:

"As mentioned in the last message:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...t-or-opencart#p29713

The login with the default Joomla/MijoShop works fine. The problem is that JFBConnect breaks this process. You can try it yourself with just Joomla and MijoShop.

I would advice you to press the JFBConnect team and let them check your site and see what is breaking the process. They know their software better than us and can easily see what is the break point."

Is there any chance you briefly touch base with them to set them in the proper direction? I'd private messaged the original poster of this thread and he indicated that they were quite adamant that the issue didn't lie with them and they went to great lengths to try to prove it, rather than to troubleshoot the problem.

Jill,
We don't have a copy of Mijoshop to test. The best thing I'd recommend is to test the following, which should narrow down which extension is having an issue:
* In the Extension Manager, enable the "Gmail - Authentication" plugin
* Go to your site and try to login using the Joomla login form using a Gmail account username and password

Joomla should create that user an account on your site. That account will not have a password associated with it, just like JFBConnect does not have a 'real' password to use to log the user in. See if you run into the same issues with Mijoshop.

If you do, then there's an issue with how they're handling alternative authentication schemes that are allowed by Joomla, including the standard GMail plugin.
If you don't run into the same problems, let us know. Maybe there is something we can do differently in JFBConnect.

Let us know how that goes,
Alex

I tried the gmail authentication, it crested a user and logged me into joomla, but not mijoshop, it also did not sync the user to mijoshop. So is indicating a mijoshop problem? I can also send you a copy of mijoshop to test if it would help.

Jeremy,
Very sorry I didn't respond to your message up above. After I posted my last response, I realized I left you hanging back in January.

Having Mijoshop at this point would be useless for me. As they responded to Jill, "They know their software better than us and can easily see what is the break point.".

The GMail plugin comes with Joomla itself. That's not ours, so that was a perfect 3rd party test to narrow down where the issue lies. I'd go back to them and let them know that even with a Joomla-distributed authentication plugin, they do not work. We use the same methods that the Gmail plugin uses because that's the only way to integrate with a 3rd party network. It sounds like Mijoshop is not supporting these alternative authentication schemes, and the update would have to be fully on their end. There's no way in JFBConnect that we can make the GMail plugin work, obviously, and the fix that's needed in their software should correct both.

Hope that makes sense, and makes it more clear that we haven't been pulling your strings the whole time. Should you need more help, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply, I have always had 5 star support from Source Coast and never doubted the support. Mijosoft is very stubborn when it come to their software, while their support is better than when it was apart of jooma ace, their attitude about their software is not. Hopefully there will be enough of us to complain to get it working with mijoshop. Thanks.

Jeremy,
Glad to hear you've been satisfied. Still not happy I missed your earlier post by so much though.

Either way, I really hope the above example, which is completely unrelated to JFBConnect, helps give you the ammunition you need to get the change required in Mijosoft. I wish I would have thought of it sooner, as it's a perfect way to point out where the issue lies.

Should you need anything else, or you get any feedback from them, we'd love to hear how it goes.

Thanks,
Alex
