Yes, profile selection is one of the many additional features that JFBConnect has over the basic Facebook integration of JomSocial. You can see a more full (but still not all-inclusive) list of what JFBConnect brings on the page below:

Additionally, there's a picture of what our registration form can look like. We do use a different registration flow than JomSocial, so it won't look the same as the normal JomSocial registration flow, but it's been well received by most users. Additionally, you can use our one click registration process (which skips forms) but still set a profile for all users that login through Facebook (instead of just using 'default').
