Martman,
Upgrading JFBConnect is always meant to be easy. You don't need to uninstall it first, and the installer will upgrade everything for you. Generally, it's just install and go. There's almost always new features and settings in upgrades, so it's worth checking those out, but all the old features should work as they were configured before the upgrade.

Our, brief, upgrade guide can be found:

Good luck,
Alex

I hate to be a pain. But I am eagerly awaiting the release of 4.1... do you have an update on the time frame... I know that you originally had planned for possibly some time this week... is this still accurate?

Your extension is the last piece of the puzzle before we launch our new website... any indication at all would be greatly appreciated!

Again... great work!

Your free to ask as much as you want.. we like that you're excited!

Unfortunately, the release won't be this week. It should definitely be next week. As always, especially with the holidays, it's possible it could slip, but we really want it out this month. Part of the reason is some finalizations on the Request functionality, other issues deal with some changes we're doing for the installation and upgrade process on Joomla 1.6/1.7 (and to prepare for 2.5 in January), and even more reasons deal with some new additions/changes Facebook's recently made that we wanted to get into this release. It all will make JFBConnect even better, but also is causing a little delay to lock things down.

As always, our upgrade process is meant to be extremely simple.. just install and check your settings. Shouldn't take long at all. If you're interested in any of the other features of JFBConnect available now (Login, Like's, Comments, Page Tag Integration, etc), you can always get that working now so you just have to setup the new features of 4.1 when it's available.

Either way, thanks again for your enthusiasm!
Alex

I see that 4.1 has been released. So is there a way to send notifications to all FB users as mentioned above in this release?

Is this done through the back end? Do you have a screen shot?

Regards,

Marty

Marty,
Sorry I didn't post back here yet to announce 4.1. Yes, it was released on Friday last week, and so far, has gone very smoothly. Most of our releases usually don't have any hiccups, but we always worry when letting them out into the wild.

As for Requests, we're still putting together the guide, which has screenshots of the setup and send process. The first half (setup) is complete. The other half (demos of sending) should be done later tonight or tomorrow. To take looks, see:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/facebook-requests

Also, our demo page has the Request module on it, which shows how it works for front-end visitors inviting their friends:
demo.sourcecoast.com/

For the full 4.1 changelog, see:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/changelog

Hope that helps,
Alex
