OpenGraph Tags was created by spikesantee
Dear Alex,

The JFBConnect is the best ap on my site. I really love what it does to help me share my content on social media. I just upgraded to 6.2.2 and everything went perfectly. All tests came back completed. But for some reason, new articles with new tags don't seem to display the right information when I'm trying to share it.

On my page: www.spikesantee.com/Books/electronic-download.html I have these following three tags. They are all on the same line, I just copied them this way to see them better.

{SCOpenGraph title=The Four Keys to Advertising Success}

{SCOpenGraph description=You can now download the Four Keys to Advertising Success book as a printable PDF for just $9.95. Stop wasting your money on BADvertising. Download your copy today and start finding new customers.}

{SCOpenGraph image=http://www.spikesantee.com/images/images/cover_front.jpg.scaled500.png}

When I run the page through the Facebook Debugger, they don't show up, just the regular metatag information does. My .png file is 400X500 pixels. I've cleared my cache but it still comes back with just the metatag information.

Can you help me with a suggestion on where to look. Both of the opengrap plugins are enabled. Everything looks normal. Old articles still display correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Spike,
We changed how the parsing of tags worked in the 6.2 release to improve page load performance. Overall, it's proved to have a huge benefit. However, there seem to be a very few sites where the tags aren't parsing properly any more and inserted into the head. It's strange, because the tags are removed from the page properly.. just not re-inserted. We're looking into the cause and hoping to have a solution soon.

We'll definitely keep you posted,
Alex

Spike,

I've made several bug fixes for Open Graph in our system plugin in the past few days. Alex mentioned that we should try this out on your page to see if it helps with your Open Graph tag problems. If you PM me the admin credentials, I can install the test plugin and look at the URL you provided to see if it resolves anything.

Thanks

Spike,

I installed the test version of the plugin and it seems to fix your problems, at least for the URL provided. The source shows those tags and the Facebook Open Graph debugger showed those tags as well when I fetched the new scrape information. Take a look at your other pages too and let us know if you still see any problems with the OG tags.

Thanks
-Melissa

I have a similar problem. Opengraph tags have stopped appearing in the page.

Also when I do an error check I am told that the JFBC System plugin is not operating even though it is.

I have made some changes to my site including installing jch-optimizer (very effective) and the Responsivizer add on for a mobile site.

Disabling them does not seem to resolve the Opengraph tags issue.

The site is www.heartsracing.com.au

Bill,

After updating to 6.2.3, you will need to manually re-scrape your individual URLs where you're seeing the problems until Facebook scrapes them all (which can take a week or more). For your homepage www.heartsracing.com.au I see that the last scrape was done on Oct 31st at 2:00am, before our release was out. Can you try to manually scrape the pages your testing with the Facebook Open Graph Debugger (developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...artsracing.com.au%2F) or using our website (socialdebug.com).

I hope re-scraping is all it takes to resolve your issue, but if you're still having issues afterward, please give me a specific URL to look at and we can go from there.

Thanks
-Melissa

My problem is not with FB scraping. It is because the OpenGraph description tag is not being rendered by JFBC. It gets the image OK but not the description. That it copies from the site content meta tag which is the same for every page. You can see this in the source of any article page on the site.

As I said the JFBC Tuneup error check says that the System plugin is not active when it is.

Latest version of JFBC makes no difference. Something screwy there.

Bill,

Can you verify that the 'Open Graph - Content' plugin is enabled? When enabled, JFBConnect can attempt to determine the og:description tag from the article content. It then falls back to any SCOpenGraph tags manually on the page, the Default setting in JFBConnect > Open Graph > Configuration and then uses the meta description tag if none of the others are available.

Looking at your page source, it is likely that jch_optimize is compressing the Facebook Javascript file, causing the Autotune error check to show that warning. Can you try disabling the compression and see if it fixes the warning?

The content plugin is enabled.

Turning off jch-optimize does allow the error check to proceed in the tuneup and all is OK.

Has no affect on the og:description tag though. This still defaults to the site's meta.
