Topic-icon Not registering Jomsocial/JSPT profile types

Using Jooma 2.5.9
Jomsocial 2.8.3
JSPT 3.6.825
JFBConnect 5.0.0

I'm trying to get the registration process to work properly. I've set up two profile types in Jomsocial (Agent and Company) and used JSPT to give those different viewing rights on the site depending on the profile type.

When registering with JFBConnect, it's show the "Choose profile type" but it doesn't register on the Joomla user. A new user is just a "Registered" users, not an Agent or Company. This worked fine before JFBC in normal Joomla registration process.

What could be going wrong?
Would it be possible to get it to follow the normal Joomla registration process and just be used for the first step (name, username, password and email fetched from FB)?

JFBConnect has it's own registration process that needs to be followed to ensure that the user's Facebook account is properly connected to their Joomla account (and that that account is created if necessary first). There's no way to use the standard Joomla registration form with JFBConnect as we can't control that process like we'd need to do to properly setup the Facebook/Joomla connection.

We don't test directly with JSPT, though we know many users have got that solution to work. You may need to make sure the JSPT User plugin is ordered after the JFBConnect and Joomla user ones so that it's properly seeing our new users.

We'll gladly help how we can, but I'm not terribly familiar with JSPT. We currently integrate with JomSocial's built-in multi-profile system though. Doing a search though, there are multiple posts on JoomlaXi's forums looking for information about integration between the two, such as:
test.joomlaxi.com/forum/61-jspt3-5-xxx/2...-payplans-jfbconnect
We don't currently have a subsrciption though, and can't see what the response there looks like.

I hope that explains a little bit, though I know there aren't any great answers.

Let us know if you find anything in the Joomlaxi forums or whether the plugin ordering mentioned above changes things.

Thanks,
Alex

Essentially, what we want is for the visitor to choose between two Jomsocial profile types when they sign up, the rest of the process is yours. Do you know how we can set that up using Jomsocial profiles and JFBC? (JSPT is just used for ACL/viewing rights on the site based on profile type)

Nikolaj,
I'm not sure if that registration path is possible with JFBConnect and JSPT. I don't know how JSPT 'saves' the users choice and would use that after the user registers. I know that when other users have had JSPT and JFBConnect work together in the past, the process was reversed. In that case, the user would use the Login with Facebook button and then be brought to a page to select their profile type.

Again, I haven't used JSPT before, but the above flow has been known to work. Also, at that point, you've already registered the user and fetched their profile information, which is good in case they fall off the registration path.

I hope that helps explain what we've heard has works,
Alex

We need to find a way for the reg process to remember the choice of profile type, so that the user gets the right rights/profile. The profile type could be chosen by clicking a dedicated "sign up" button instead of using the Jomsocial/JSPT profile chooser if that helps.

On this page you state: "Multi-profile selection during registration." so I guess that is what I'm looking for. Problem is, when you select the profile, it's not being registered on the user.

Any idea as to how or where to look?

I really don't because I don't know what JSPT does before registration or how it works after. All I know is the JFBConnect side of things and what we've been told has worked for other users.

I'd have to recommend contacting the JSPT developers as they know what is required to properly capture the profile type selection before registration and then how to save that after registration. I just don't have that answer.

If they have any questions for us or need anything, we'll gladly help how we can, but I just don't know that extension well enough to tell you what you're looking for.
