Error FB Login was created by bvtechteam
Hello Alex,
We are testing the extension on our live website, when I reach the registration page, there is an error:
Facebook API Error: Parser error: unexpected 'FROM' at position 8.
Can you please advise?
Thank you,

Hello Alex,
Also once an existing user logs in for the first time wth their fb in there is the message:
Error loading component: com_jfbconnect, 1
Error loading component: com_menus, 1
Once a new user tries to register to the website:
The website encountered an error while retrievingcomponent/jfbconnect/?view=loginregister&return=L2NvbW11bml0eS9lbXBvd2VyLw==&Itemid=. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this web page later.
Also when trying to run the error check:
JFBConnect Remote Error Check
Error: Fetching failed.
Thank you for clarifying,

That doesn't sound right! Let's see how we can help. First, the error checker is having issues reading your page because you're using a self-signed SSL certificate. Our error checker has issues with those right now, but it's something we're looking into fixing. I'm assuming you don't direct people to the https version of your site, and only use that for admin access, which is fine (and good! Security is always good!). Either way, I manually looked at your HTML and home page. Everything the error checker looks for is fine on your page, so you can ignore that.

As for your login issues, that's a bit more strange as we haven't heard of that before. I tried to look around your site, but couldn't find a way to login with Facebook. Where should I try that?

Beyond that, the issue with "Parser error" from the first post seems to mean JFBConnect is trying to pull information from Facebook that doesn't exist. Can you tell me if you have any profile plugins enabled? If so, can you temporarily disable them and see if the problems go away? If they do, re-enable them, but disable things like avatar import or profile import and see if you can narrow it down to a specific setting.

For the Error loading component messages, that's completely new to us. From a quick Google search, it seems to be a common issue after upgrading Joomla though. Try going to Extensions -> Database and then clicking the "Fix" button. Hopefully that will clear those issues.

Hope that all helps, but keep us posted if you still have issues!
Alex

Hello Alex,
Thank you for the thorough and professional response, I appreciate that.
1. Error check - thank you for clarifying.
2. Login - I have removed the button from the JS homepage because of the issue.
3. I have both the JS+Kunenua social plugins - the error disappear when I disable both. Once I put re-enable them the error appears automatically, even if all fields are set on "none".
4. I refreshed like you suggested - however, when I login as an existing user this is the error I receive:
Error loading component: com_jfbconnect, 1
Error loading component: com_menus, 1

Can you please advise?
Thank you

Definitely not sure about the Error loading component messages. If you search for that string in Google, you'll see tons of references to it and it's seems to be caused by a problem during a Joomla upgrade process. The fix everyone mentions is the "Fix" button in the Database area of the Extension manager in Joomla. Please make sure you hit "Fix"... you mention "refresh" above, which is not the correct button. I don't know of anything in JFBConnect that could cause that, but if you still have issues, let us know, and we'll try to understand possible causes.

As for the error with the JFBCProfile plugins, does the error come back only when you re-enable both? Can you try to re-enable just Kunena and see if the error appears? Either way, then enable just JomSocial and test again. Let us know, and that will really help localize the problem to just one of the profile plugins, which will really help to narrow things down for investigation. From there, we may have you individually test a few more settings or let us know what version of JomSocial / Kunena you are using to make sure we're trying to test in the same environment.

Thanks, and sorry for the troubles!
Alex

Hello Alex,
Thank you very much.
1. Fix - yes, I clicked fix, not refresh :-) And it is the same issue.
2. The error comes back both with Kunena and JS plugins - I tried to enable one after the other. When both are enabled the error appears twice:
Facebook API Error: Parser error: unexpected 'FROM' at position 8.
Facebook API Error: Parser error: unexpected 'FROM' at position 8.
3. The versions: JS: Version: 2.6.2 (latest)
Kunena 2.0.1 (latest)

Thank you for your help,

No problem for the help. We'll have to do some testing to understand the issue more and try to recreate it. It may take a few days.

Is the profile import functionality actually working as expected other than this error? If so, you may want to just turn Show FB API Errors on Front-end to "No" in the Configuration -> Facebook API area of JFBConnect. That will at least hide the error from your users.. but obviously, we need to figure out the cause.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
It does work now and I have disabled the messages.
However, I still get:
Error loading component: com_jfbconnect, 1
Error loading component: com_menus, 1
What should I do next?
Thank you,

That's definitely not a JFBConnect issue. It seems to be related to Joomla directly. The best info I could find is the following post:
groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!top...1xm_rH-BUg%5B1-25%5D

If you read down to Jeff Hughs' post from 4/19:

Here's how to fix it:

I had the same issue:

1. Under Extension manager, click on Discover, select everything click Purge Cache
2. Under Extension manager, click on Manage, click on Refresh Cache
3. Under Extension manager, click on Update, click on Purge Cache
4. Click on Site > Control Panel
5. Hit CTRL + F5 (full refresh)
6. Now check it. It seemed to be a caching problem and although I'm not 100% sure which one I did a purge and refresh of them all and it quit showing me the message.

There are other solutions in that post, but it basically comes down to a bad upgrade. If the above doesn't fix your problem, can you let us know what version of Joomla you're using? Also, did you ever upgrade it from a previous version?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Thank you.
I followed the points, but it did not solve the issue.
We have Joomla! 2.5.6 and it was updated from a previous version.
We will have a look at it with out team.
Will you still try to solve the other plugin issue?
Thank you
