Keep refreshing on Registration Page

The session length is a configurable value in Joomla's Global Configuration area.

As for the scenario you propose, it may not work in that one. The cookie is set for the session length (which is usually about 15 minutes by default in Joomla). If you are a) logging into your site with JFBConnect or b) logging out of your site, the cookie will be set to prevent auto-logins for the session duration.

What I'd recommend is logged into Facebook and not your site. Then, close your browser and wait 15 or so minutes. Then, open the browser and go directly to your website. See if that logs you in.

If not, let us know. We did a lot of tests with this configuration and we are still using the authResponseChange function which you've said works before. However, to prevent the auto-logging in after logging out or other issues (from other users above) we have to have some time period or other mechanism to prevent the auto-login from happening immediately when the user isn't logged in anymore.

To sum up, this workaround may fail in a few cases. However, think through whether they are realistic cases or more 'testing' cases. We don't like it when things don't work all the time, but it happens and we have to make concessions here and there to get around issues with Facebook. There's plenty others.. but we won't tell you where to look

The current issue with Facebook is that the authResponseChange event is only supposed to occur when the session state changes (JFBConnect is notified that the user is logged into Facebook). Unfortunately, the current bug is that the event is actually triggering on every page load on some (and spreading) sites.

Thank goodness! That was a tricky issue, and you were the only one who's noted the "Keep me logged in" ability of the way we had it in 4.2.3. That kept us from reverting it back to the previous way. Thanks for your persistence, and glad to hear we got something good going (so far). We actually like the solution for a few other benefits too!

Anyways, hoping to get the release out tonight. Ran into some minor issues with automated testing, but nothing crazy. Tomorrow at the latest!

Just wanted to let you know that the new version of JFBConnect (v4.2.4) was just posted. This should fix the redirect loop problems with the fix mentioned above.

There's a bunch of other fixes, but I also wanted to point out an update for the Login / Register page, which is shown if JFBConnect is set for "Normal" registration. There's a new option for how to display that form either horizontally (the current way), vertically (with the login area on top of the registration area), or even a way to disable the login form altogether.

It should make things look a little better overall, and just wanted to point it out!
