Good morning
I just upgraded to 4.2 and performed a "JFBConnect Remote Error Check".
The system require me to enable JFBCSystem plugin, but it IS enabled.
(note that I had this problem on 1 domain, while in another domain worked without errors).
How solve?
Thanks

Carlo,
We're looking into the cause of the problem now, and will let you know when we've updated our remote debugger. I looked at your page, and everything looks right from a manual check, so it seems like something's just wrong with our code. Not sure what yet, but we'll get to the bottom of it. Obviously, if everything's working right on the site, don't worry about the fail messages.

The error checker is brand new. So far, it's been working well, but with everything new, there are always kinks to work out. Sorry for your trouble.

Thanks,
Alex

I looked at the page acquar****.it site. When you run the remote debugger, we log the requests so that we can improve our tool and help our users when they post requests for support without having to make their URL public.

We just evaluated the problem a little further, and it actually looks like your page is returning the following HTML to us when we try to fetch your page:
<div>
	<strong>403: Access Forbidden</strong>
	<p>DoS Protection</p>
</div>
Obviously, you have some security or firewall type protection that's triggering when we remotely fetch your page. Do you know what is causing this, and what the best way to get around it would be? We only fetch the page once for each time you hit the 'Start' button, so it shouldn't look like an attack. However, we don't set the user-agent and some other strings which may help identify the request as a more legitimate one.

Let us know, and hope that helps get things started.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, what is sounding strange to me is that the same "JFBConnect Remote Error Check" worked without any problem for another domain, and it is on the same server (and obviously same Firewall).
Is it possible to have your accessing IP?

I actually got the DoS warning from 2 different addresses: our office, when I checked this morning, and online from the real remote debugger. The remote debugger would be run from sourcecoast.com, which could come from any of the following IP addresses, in case you want to check your logs:
173.199.165.115
173.199.165.116
173.199.165.117
173.199.165.118
Would love to hear what you find so we can improve things further!

Thanks,
Alex

Alex
I found the problem.
A Joomla-specific Firewall (not at server-level) called "RSFirewall!" blocked the incoming request from 173.199.*.* interpreting as a DoS attack.
Sorry, but I have no chance to be more specific because RSFirewall! has a low level of fine-tuning.

I disabled the configuration setting "Protect against DoS attacks" (that is ON by default), checked again "JFBConnect Remote Error Check" and worked without problem.

So, the issue is solved thank to you and your information. Hope this will be useful to other user's that have RSFirewall! installed.

Thank you
Carlo

Carlo,
Thanks for updating us with the information above. Definitely good to know what we're in for when running the error checker on some sites. We can add a check for the "DoS protection" string and alert users as to what is likely happening.

Hope everything else is going well with the upgrade, and let us know if there's anything else we can help with!

Thanks,
Alex
