Hi guys,
Joomla Registration standard page is grabbing the CAPTCHA use from this setting:
- Joomla > System > Users > Manage > User Options > Captcha: ... where, if "Global" is selected, it will follow the
--. Joomla > System > Global Configuration > Site > Captcha: ... setting

While JFBC Social page Registration is grabbing it directly from Joomla Global Configuration, while, as Joomla standard Registration page, it should grab that setting from:
- Joomla > System > Users > Manage > User Options > Captcha: ...

Please, Can you confirm the bug ?

JFBConnect loads the /com_users/models/forms/registration.xml form, which generically specifies a 'captcha' field. That field may use the global configuration setting instead of the standard registration page setting, I'm honestly not sure from looking at it and we've never had the question before.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bug, just a difference in what you may want to happen. Since no other subscribers have brought this issue up and the code has been this way for years, it's likely not something we'll be changing soon.

I hope that helps explain the reasoning,
Alex

Hi Alex,
"Bug" being that it literally means: "...it is producing an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways...", nothing more than that.

Joomla Registration standard page is working by grabbing the CAPTCHA use from this setting:
- Joomla > System > Users > Manage > User Options > Captcha: ... where, if "Global" is selected, it will follow the
--. Joomla > System > Global Configuration > Site > Captcha: ... setting

While, as far as I understand from my tests and confirmed by you: "...JFBConnect loads the /com_users/models/forms/registration.xml form, which generically specifies a 'captcha' field. That field may use the global configuration setting instead of the standard registration page setting..." = JFBC Social page Registration is grabbing it directly from Joomla Global Configuration

Doesn't matter if "...we've never had the question before...", most of users have User Options > Captcha set as "Global" and/or both configured in the same way).
For sure it is not an urgent fix, but it is a "bug" and should be fixed on next releases. JFBC should grab that setting from:
- Joomla > System > Users > Manage > User Options > Captcha: ... (where, when it will be set as "Global", it will follow the Global Configuration)
