Topic-icon Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet

Hello, after years of successfuly using JFBConnect for user registration and login via Facebook and Google, all of a sudden it stopped working this week. Couple highlights (happy to add more details):
The UX is: User visits the login page (www.evergreenmtb.org/login), clicks log in with FB or Google, the app window pops (user fills out their credentials if not logged into FB or G yet), then the login page reloads without being actually logged in. Same experience for registering with FB or G.
Joomla 3.10.6
JFBConnect 9.0.152
The FB and Google apps are enabled and in good standing
All the pertinent plugins seem to be published (the JFBC user one being the first in order among the user plugins).
Just re-ran through autotune, and get green checks all around (i.e. everything seems to be set up successfully
In the Joomla error log I get the following error: 2022-02-26T04:50:30+00:00    INFO <MY_IP_ADDRESS>    jfbconnectauthfailure    Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.
The user definitely exists, and has a matching profile in JFBConnect User Map - this has been reproduced by many of our users

Any thoughts on what else I can check on please? Thank you!

First off, I'm very sorry for the delayed response to your question! We definitely appreciate your long use and support of JFBConnect and will do whatever we can to get you going.

I just tested on your site and am able to see the behavior you describe. Here are some notes:
* It does not look to be a browser caching issue. However, I'd still recommend disabling any caching or optimization extensions and test again to see if that fixes the issue.
* After entering my credentials and clicking login in the popup, the page reloads *very* fast. Unless you have an incredible server and a near location to a Facebook server, my immediate guess is that the requests to Facebook aren't even being made for some reason.
* If I try to authenticate as if the "Show 'Login Credentials' in popup" in JFBC -> Providers -> Facebook is "No", the authentication still fails. This indicates it's not a Javascript issue or browser blocking the login process.
* Since this is happening to both Google and Facebook, it's likely not an API Keys issue or a configuration issue of one of the social network apps.

With the above, everything points to something server side causing some issues. Do you know of any server changes recently that could be related?

If you are able to provide us with an admin account and FTP credentials, we can dig into this issue to figure out exactly where the problem is. To do so, please use the Contact Us menu item above and submit them that way (don't post to the forum). We'll gladly take a look and do what we can to get you going!

Thanks,
Alex

To follow up on this thread... I realized that after I tried to login with Facebook, I received an account activation email from your site.

Can you check that my account was created and looks right? The name should be Alex Sourcecoast. If so, that means that JFBConnect was able to create and import my profile information into the site, again, verifying the connection.

I did activate my account, but am still not able to login. Can you check what other User or Authentication plugins you have enabled or any profile extensions (Community Builder, JomSocial, etc) installed and see if there are any settings for blocking a user? It's possible JFBConnect is properly authenticating the user but then another extension is denying access.

Thanks,
Alex

Hey Alex, thank you so much for looking into this. I was just about to say that user accounts are still getting created with JFBConnect (sorry, should have mentioned it in my OP). I've bumped your privileges, and you can reset your password to log into the admin area "old-fashioned way" : )
We use some other 3rd party user plugins (Seblod and CiviCRM), but JFBConnect user plugin is ordered as first, and I also tried with all of these disabled, and still no luck. The only other thing I can think of is Admin Tools, though not sure which option would be causing the issue, and we haven't changed the config in months (and JFBC login stopped working just recently).
Thanks a ton!

I should have used forgot password sooner.. super admins can't reset their password on the front-end. :)

Can you demote me to let me reset it.. or set a password on your own and send it to me via the Contact Us link at the top of this page.

Thanks!

Duh, my bad, Alex - please try now, and I'll bump you up again afterwards. Thanks much!

Hi Alex, pardon my being a pest - it's becoming a bit urgent now as folks have gotten quite used to the convenient social login options. Thank you!

Apologies. I tried yesterday, but the page didn't load properly, so I meant to try again later.

I just tried now, and going to the Forgot Password page shows the following error message:

Disk full (/tmp/#sql_430e_2.MAI); waiting for someone to free some space... (errno: 28 "No space left on device")

If your disk is running out of space, that could explain the issue with social login. Either way, I'm unable to reset my password now. If you could investigate that and let me know when the issue is resolved, I'll gladly reset my password and be ready to investigate in the admin area if there's another cause of the problem.

Thanks,
Alex

Ha, what a coincidence - the disk space now resolved (sorry).

Alright, I've reset my password. Please upgrade me to a super admin.

Beyond just admin access, we may need FTP access to add some debug code as well to understand where the authentication process is failing. If you want to go ahead and send that, please use the Contact Us link at the top of this page.

Thanks!
Alex
