The next version of our Facebook for Joomla (JED) component is coming, and it's going to blow your socks off! With extensive OpenGraph features for promoting your site, a Content plugin to place Facebook Comments & Like into any article, category, or section, email notifications on new Comments & Likes, custom registration fields for Community Builder & JomSocial, and a whole lot more, your Joomla site is about to become a Facebook powerhouse!
The new version makes it a snap to get your site, and brand, noticed on Facebook. With rich wall posts during registration or login, as well as easily used by 3rd party components for any action on your site, you're sure to get additional traffic! Simply fill out the message to post, the image to use, and link to go to, and JFBConnect takes care of the rest.
You asked for it. Now, with a few clicks, you can add a comment box and/or like button to any section, category, or specific article on your site. You decide where and how it displays: blog views, front-page, or article only. There's even an option to have email notifications sent whenever a new comment is posted or like button is clicked!
Of course, Facebook comments are posted to the user's profile, which always helps to spark the discussion.
You've always been able to import Facebook profile fields into JomSocial & Community Builder (and K2, Agora, and Kunena). Now you can ask for other information at registration that might not be in the user's Facebook profile.
It's the best of both worlds: Fetch what you can from Facebook, but add must-have fields to registration and get all the information you need!
The Open Graph protocol lets you describe your pages to Facebook. This let's Likes, Comments, and other social features from your site stand out in a user's wall, and helps you target your message how you want. With the Open Graph configuration settings, you can set default options throughout your site, with overrides available on a per-page basis.
This release has been almost 3 months in the making, and we've put that time to good use. In addition to the above, every social module (Fanbox, Livestream, Recommendations, etc) has been updated with the most recent options from Facebook. New user notification, new user approval, customizeable Facebook permission requests, language overrides, and a slew of other options will now be available.
Facebook on your Joomla site just got a lot more exciting, and easy!
