Dear Forum

I've spent some hours now searching for a solution for this, but so far I haven't been successful as most of the posts I've found are several years old.

Since I have updated to Joomla 3.6.4 and SCLogin 7.0.3 (from 7.0.0), I can't login to the frontend anymore. It always tells me that I need to "login first". I tried using another login module which didn't work neither. The only time I could actually access my protected sites was when checking the "Remember me" box. This only happens in Internet Explorer. Every other browser works fine.

I don't want a solution involving the users, I want one that I can fix without the users having to do anything.

Have you encountered this problem too and if so, did you find an acceptable solution to it?

Thank you very much in advance for your help,
Denise

Denise,
We have never run into this issue or heard it reported from others.

I'd recommend testing with the standard Joomla login module (mod_login) to see if you have the same issue. If so, it indicates that there's an underlying issue with your Joomla installation itself. From there, I'd recommend re-installing the Joomla files (something that can be done within the Joomla Update component itself) and using the Manage -> Database -> Fix button to make sure you database is properly setup.

Beyond that, it could be a conflict with some authentication or user plugins you have enabled. Try disabling any that you don't need or aren't core-Joomla plugins and test again.

Finally, try the Joomla forums to see if anyone else has experienced this issue.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Thank you Alex for your effort. I could solve it, but not right away.

I tried repairing the database and also re-installed the Joomla core files. Neither would help.
But then I tried to approach it from the IE side instead of the Joomla side and I found this post:
www.bennyn.de/programmierung/html/intern...icht-verhindern.html

And basically, my issue was solved when I added this line to the head:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"/>

Thank you again and have a great day,
Denise

Denise,
I'm glad to hear you got it going. Can't say I know why that is necessary, but hopefully it helps others as well.

Thanks,
Alex
