show field label outside/before the input box

That's not a request we've had before. Users seem to be happy with the more minimal look that we currently provide with the placeholder text inside the input boxes instead of on the side. It takes up less space and, in our opinion, looks cleaner.

With that said, its very easy to override our looks and add labels or anything else you may want to alter on the page. For more information, see our SCLogin Theming guide for more information.

I agree that adding an option for some settings is a good idea. However, you're the only user that's asked for it. We go to great pains to ensure we only add the options that will be widely used. If not, we're simply adding options that can end up confusing the user more.

The theming option may be extra work, but it's the way to add the most flexibility to the module to accomplish anything you want. It's also why we have the documentation to explain how to do so, for those users that aren't aware.
