I have Joomla 2.5.16 and Virtuemart 2.0.24b. I recently installed SCLogin (hope to get FBConnect very soon).

I think at one point the register link was working correctly, as I created a test user using Virtuemart. But now, when I click the register link it redirects to /my-account/my-profile (a menu/submenu I created that points to VirtueMart >> Account Maintenance ) instead of the actual Virtuemart User registration.

What would cause this? Is it something I messed up, or a bug?

Thanks!

This seems to only happen if I have the menu item type as VirtueMart >> Account Maintenance or VirtueMart >> User Edit Address. When I use other menu types, the Register link works normally.

Strange.

Can you explain that more? The registration component setting in the SCLogin module is hard-coded to the Virtuemart registration page. There isn't anything in your Menu Manager you can do that should affect our registration redirection.

One thing I'd suggest is to try with SEF URLs disabled. That will help you narrow down where the 'real' link that we're trying to redirect to is going. It also may fix the issue, which would narrow down the cause to the SEF URLs. From there, we can help you fix things further.

I hope that helps,
Alex

I turned SEF URLs off, and it worked as expected. Turning them back on makes it go back to the wrong behavior.

I have a few menu items, one of which has sub-menus including one for the Virtuemart Account Maintenance page (/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout=edit&Itemid=141). The VM Register page is (/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user).

Now I see the problem. I have no clue how to fix it, though. Is there anything I can do? I realize the problem has nothing to do with SCLogin, but if you have any ideas I would appreciate the help.

I guess I'm not seeing the problem. Again, the SCLogin module doesn't look at your menu items. It just redirects to "index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user"

We don't attach an Itemid to that link at all, and it wouldn't automatically 'find' an Itemid on it's own. Are you using a separate SEF extension, or the SEF built into Joomla? If it's separate, that would explain the issue. You'd need to find out how to make the SEF extension not try to find the 'best' link.. that may entail updating your menus, but I honestly don't know.

I hope that helps,
Alex

I'm using the built-in SEF that is in the global configuration. It seems to be mapping all links that begin with "/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user" and mapping them to the account maintenance page. It's like it is completely ignoring the "&layout=edit&Itemid=141" portion when it creates the mapping. This is a low priority thing, so I'll let it slide for now and come back to it once I take care of a few other issues.

Ramon,
Definitely strange. I'm not sure what's going on there, but hopefully you can work around it for now.

When you get back to it, if you still have issues, just let us know. We'll help how we can, but not sure if there's much we could do to fix this in our SCLogin module.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

I'm still not sure I totally understand the reason, but I installed JoomSEF and was able to get it working.

Very strange. I'm glad you got it going. The best guess I'd have is that your Joomla Redirection component (what comes with Joomla) had some strange redirect setup in it.

Thanks,
Alex
