A period of time for things to catch?

The Feed module doesn't show activity from your Facebook Page. Use the "Like Box" for that. The Feed shows a list of recent acitivity on your site. Those are actions like users clicking the Like button, leaving comments or triggering any Open Graph Actions you have configured in JFBConnect.

For email notifications, when you create a new post, make sure the "Subscribe" button is left checked. If you un-check it, you're telling the system *not* to email you when an update is posted.
