Slow Load Times was created by stelee
Our sites pages are loading slowly and have been for a few weeks now, the page seems to pause loading at the JFB section - the LINKED IN and TWITTER section loads, and then there is this delay as it waits for the FACEBOOK section to load. Never used to be this way, anyone else experiencing the same issue?

When I click on FACEBOOK Settings and then fb:ADMIN - NONE SPECIFIED it takes me to a FaceBook admin where it shows errors with the page, one particular thing it shows caught my attention:

Like Button Warnings That Should Be Fixed
Like Button Tag Missing og:image is missing. The og:image meta tag is necessary for Facebook to render a News Feed story that generates a high click-through rate.

Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed
Meta with name instead of property The meta tag on the page was specified with name 'author', which matches a configured property of this object type. It will be ignored unless specified with the meta property attribute instead of the meta name attribute.

So, what is the 'go:image' and could this be causing the delay?

Your page loaded immediately for me without any delay loading the Facebook files. Have you tried from multiple computers and/or browsers? My best guess is that your testing browser has an add-on installed that is conflicting (or intentionally preventing) the loading of Facebook code. There are a lot of 'hide yourself' type add ons that intentionally interfere with social network code loading on sites.

For the og:image, you should enable the Open Graph - Content plugin on your site. That will automatically set the Open Graph image tag on your pages, which are used by Facebook to generate the previews of your pages when linked to in status updates or other news feed stories. Having that tag missing would not in any way slow down the loading of your page... it just helps the promotion and branding of your pages when mentioned on Facebook.

I hope that helps, but please let me know if you continue to have issues.

Thanks,
Alex

Hmm, you may be right, it only seems to happen on my main browser which is Safari....but I don't have any add-ons that would affect it. Thanks for the info on OG too!

Steve,
No problem for the help. When I went to your page, just so you know, it actually loaded very fast. We see a lot of slow loading sites around here (not usually from our stuff, btw), and yours definitely did not fall into that category.

I originally tried in Chrome, but I just tried in Safari as well (on a Mac). Still was pretty darn fast.

The only suggestions I'd have are:
* Try in Safari "Private Browsing" mode. That will eliminate other sessions and things that may somehow be slowing it down. If that helps, clear your browser history and cache. Something in there may be gumming up the works.
* Go to Preferences -> Extensions and make sure nothing is installed there that you don't want... or even just turn them all off with the big switch and test to see if that helps.

I hope that helps,
Alex
