When adding custom fields in JEvents for the Social Media metadata, and then adding the JEvents...
Category: JFBConnect

Thanks Alex, I tried several times to update the post using Facebook's sharing Debugger and had no luck, so what you say about Facebook;s attempt to foil bait and switch attempts by not allowing a post to be changed after 50 likes is what is being applied in this case,

One thing you didn't address is how I stop JFBConnect from generating the Twitter image meta profile tag from the OpenGraph image tag?

Just to let you know what I did, in case anyone in the future wants to add Social Media buttons to their JEvents pages. I did suggest that jEvents contact Alex to talk about making a JFBConnect plugin for jEvents.

First in jEvents Custom Layouts -> Event Edit page, I include the following code after the "Contacts" section; I am using Regular Labs Tabs for this and their plugin runs after everything else and JEvents leaves it alone even though they both use the double braces {{…}} delimeters.

Code:

{{Tab Start:TABSTART#COM_JEVENTS_TAB_SOCIAL_MEDIA}}
<div class="row jev_social_media">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{Event URL Label:customfield_jevcfEventURL_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{Event URL:customfield_jevcfEventURL}}
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row jev_social_media">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{OpenGraph Description Label:customfield_jevcfOpenGraphDescription_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{OpenGraph Description:customfield_jevcfOpenGraphDescription}}
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row jev_social_media">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{Twitter Description Label:customfield_jevcfTwitterDescription_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{Twitter Description:customfield_jevcfTwitterDescription}}
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row jev_social_media_image">
    <div class="span2">
            <strong>{{Open Graph Image Label:customfield_socialOpenGraphImage_lbl}}</strong>
        </div>
        <div class="span10">
            {{Open Graph Image:customfield_socialOpenGraphImage}}
        </div>
    </div>
<div class="row jev_social_media_image">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{Twitter Image Label:customfield_socialTwitterImage_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{Twitter Image:customfield_socialTwitterImage}}
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row jev_social_media">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{Twitter Image Alt Text Label:customfield_jevcfTwitterImageAltText_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{Twitter Image Alt Text:customfield_jevcfTwitterImageAltText}}
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row jev_social_media">
    <div class="span2">
        <strong>{{Facebook unique reference name Label:customfield_jevcfFacebookReference_lbl}}</strong>
    </div>
    <div class="span10">
        {{Facebook unique reference name:customfield_jevcfFacebookReference}}
    </div>
</div>

In jEvents Custom Layouts -> Event Details Page, working in the Code Editor I add the following to the bottom of the page:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">
<div class="JFBC-Config">{JFBCLike href={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} layout=button_count show_faces=false share=true width=120 action=like colorscheme=dark ref={{Facebook unique reference name Raw Value:jevcfFacebookReference_raw}} kid_directed_site=false}</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">{SCTwitterShare href={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} text={{Twitter Description Raw Value:jevcfTwitterDescription_raw}}… data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">{SCGooglePlusOne {{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}</div>
{SCOpenGraph image=https://www.911tap.org/images/jevents/{{Open Graph Image Raw Value:socialOpenGraphImage_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:image=https://www.911tap.org/images/jevents/{{Twitter Image Raw Value:socialTwitterImage_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:image:alt={{Twitter Image Alt Text Raw Value:jevcfTwitterImageAltText_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph url={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph title={{Title:TITLE}}}
{SCOpenGraph description={{OpenGraph Description Raw Value:jevcfOpenGraphDescription_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:description={{Twitter Description Raw Value:jevcfTwitterDescription_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph type=event}</div>

Working with jEvents I changed a line in their code, defaultloadedfromtemplate.php line 332 from:

Code:

$strippedmatch = preg_replace('/(#|:|;)+[^}]*/', '', $matchesarray[0][$i]);

to:

Code:

$strippedmatch = preg_replace('/(#|:|;)+[^}}]*/', '', $matchesarray[0][$i]);

so only two of the braces at the end of the string that has three barces }}} gets sucked up. I assume this will be changed in the next release of jEvents. It's not much of a deal, but in this instance it allows the jEvents tags to get replaced with the values without disturbing the JFBCConnect tags.
The result is I get a form as follows:
http://webdev.911truthoutreach.org/images/temp/jevents-social-media-tab-screen-shot.jpg
Which results in a twitter card that looks like:
http://webdev.911truthoutreach.org/images/temp/jevents-social-media-twitter-card-shot.jpg

I can't show you the Facebook post that gets generated, because as Alex has pointed out, after a post receives 50 likes, it can no longer be updated using the Facebook sharing Debugger.

When adding custom fields in JEvents for the Social Media metadata, and then adding the JEvents...
Category: JFBConnect

Hi Alex, I got the issue resolved over at JEvents. After going through the database, component PHP files changing a line in a file

Code:

$strippedmatch = preg_replace('/(#|:|;)+[^}]*/', '', $matchesarray[0][$i]);

to

Code:

$strippedmatch = preg_replace('/(#|:|;)+[^}}]*/', '', $matchesarray[0][$i]);

It turns out that when I created the custom fields in JEvents, I left a setting "Access to field when viewing event" set to author, so noting was showing up when not logged in to the front end. I need to learn to pay attention to these details.

What I ended up with looks like:
http://webdev.911truthoutreach.org/images/temp/jevents-social-media-tab-screen-shot.jpg
And the resulting Twitter Card looks like:
http://webdev.911truthoutreach.org/images/temp/jevents-social-media-twitter-card-shot.jpg
I can't show you the Facebook preview, because for some reason Facebook refuses to scrape the event page for new information and leaves the Social Meta generic default that was present previously. Is there some way I can force Facebook to revisit the page?

There is still one problem with JFBConnect and that is I need the option to turn off the auto generation of the twitter:image meta property. Since the Twitter image is slightly shorter than the Facebook images, I make two images when designing them because it is easy to move things around on the Photoshop canvass after I reduce the height of the image and doesn't take much additional time to make both a Facebook image and a Twitter image.

Here is what is currently generated:

Code:

<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://www.911tap.org/images/jevents/5ae01f90825a97.41848359.jpeg"/>
<meta property="og:image" content="https://www.911tap.org/images/jevents/5ae01f90825a97.41848359.jpeg"/>
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://www.911tap.org/images/jevents/5ae01f9dc67415.94840966.jpeg"/>
<meta name="twitter:image:alt" content="Richard Gage Barbara Honeggar — Every Country, Every Citizen, London, Event Banner"/>

The first twitter:image is generated from the og:image, I assume you did it this way to cover all the bases. As you can see, however, I have a second twitter:image defined by Easy Tags and it is being ignored because it is second in the lineup. I understand the utility of auto generating the twitter:image property, but in my case, I would like to turn that off.

Is there a way a way to turn off the generation of the twitter:image meta property so that only the EasyTags twitter:image meta property shows on the page?

Thanks for your lightning fast reply Alex. I sometime feel like I am your only customer.

As I pointed out, the JEvents "Title" tag got processed and the JFBCSystem correctly processed the Title which is why

Code:

<meta name="twitter:title" content="'9/11 Justice: Every Nation, Every Citizen'"/>

<meta property="og:title" content="'9/11 Justice: Every Nation, Every Citizen'"/>

are correctly populated. The other data isn't JEvents core fields, it is JEvents Custom Fields which I would assumed are processed separately.

System - JFBCSystem is near the bottom of the list of plugins and far below the JEvents - Custom Fields plugin. I will ask Tony and Geraint if they have any ideas.

Yes, tags within tags can get tricky.

I will let you know what JEvents says.

******Update******

The person who was financing this organization has thrown his hands up and decided to move on, and it just so happened that the subscription to JEvents expired yesterday, so I will not be getting a reply from them.

I see that all the metadata is processed in jfbcsystem.php and this runs well after the JEvents Custom Fields plugin runs, so not sure what the problem is here and why

I don't think this is the problem any more.
I have run into a problem, the "Content - JFBCContent" plugin is in the "Content" grouping that doesn't allow me to place it below the "JEvents Custon Fields" plugin. If "Content - JFBCContent" is the plugin evaluating the tags in content, then this is firing before the "JEvents Custom Fields" plugin fires. Is there a way in Joomla to turn off the grouping of plugins? I have read the Joomla documentation and I can't see a way to change the order of a plugin outside of it's grouping. I am sure I am missing something. Again "System - JFBCSystem" plugin runs after all the JEvents plugins.

Here is what I see in plugin manager:

"JEvents - Core Content" Plugin runs before "Content - JFBCContent," which is why "Title" is getting evaluated by both JEvents and JFBConnect

"JEvents - Custom Fields" runs after "Content - JFBCContent" because it is in the JEvents block which is positioned below the Content block in the block order, and I don't know how to arrange these blocks relative to each other. I assume that Joomla does this for a reason, like this arrangement most likely avoids conflicts. Since "JEvents - Custom Fields" runs after "Content - JFBCContent," the, it would seem to me that Social Meta tags won't be ready for evaluation when "Content - JFBCContent" fires.

I am currently looking for a job, as the organization I am working for and I have decided to go in different directions. I have agreed to stay on for three months maintaining the website until they find my replacement and I have also agreed to be available after those three in a consulting capacity. I am a champion of Open Source, and they don't see the importance of Open Source, yet decry the loss of democracy in America.

By the way Alex, edit the CSS for your jfbcsocialshare module and make the container div a flex div, that way the social media buttons will always arrange themselves optimally without overlap:

Code:

.footer .footer-right .jfbcsocialshare.scsocialbuttons {
    align-content: space-between;
    align-items: center;
    display: flex;
    justify-content: space-around;
    margin-right: 2px;
    padding: 0 10px;
    position: fixed;
    right: 0px;
    width: 248px;
    z-index: 1000;
}

Category: JFBConnect

When adding custom fields in JEvents for the Social Media metadata, and then adding the JEvents tags for those custom fields inside the SCOpenGraph Easy Tags, only the title is properly parsed.

Of course I am asking JEvents the same question.

It seems as though the problem is the JEvents Custom fields, because {SCOpenGraph title={{Title:TITLE}}} gets handled correctly and is included in the metadata as follows:

Code:

<meta name="twitter:title" content="'9/11 Justice: Every Nation, Every Citizen'"/>

Something like {SCOpenGraph url={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}}}, however,  does not and the Social Meta default gets inserted instead like:

Code:

<meta property="og:url" content="https://www.911tap.org/"/>

The page URL is: https://www.911tap.org/9-11-tap-events/ … ry-citizen

Here is the complete Easy Tag section:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">
<div class="JFBC-Config">{JFBCLike href={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} layout=button_count show_faces=false share=true width=120 action=like colorscheme=dark ref={{Facebook unique reference name Raw Value:jevcfFacebookReference_raw}} kid_directed_site=false}</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">{SCTwitterShare href={{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} text={{Twitter Description:jevcfTwitterDescription}} data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">{SCGooglePlusOne {{Event URL Raw Value:jevcfEventURL_raw}} annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}</div>
{SCOpenGraph image={{Open Graph Image Raw Value:socialOpenGraphImage_raw}}}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:image={{Twitter Image Raw Value:socialTwitterImage_raw}}}

{SCOpenGraph description={{OpenGraph Description Raw Value:jevcfOpenGraphDescription_raw}}…}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:description={{Twitter Description Raw Value:jevcfTwitterDescription_raw}}…}

And here is the complete list of meta-data:

First before telling you my woes, I really appreciate the detailed explanations you provide. Those explanation actually help a lot, because sometimes I am just not seeing the obvious.

As you can see from below, I added the {SCOpenGraph twitter:description=This focuses on Mueller’s role in obscuring the evidence trail to the events of 9/11…} tag but I still get both og:description and twitter description populated with the og:description value as you can see below.

So the {SCTwitterShare text=At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition…} attribute isn't used and I should set a separate {SCOpenGraph twitter:description=At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition…}  tag? correct.

What about creating a module that I can set to display on every page that will pick up the Easy Tag data for the page from which it is called.

One problem with your existing code I found is if there is the following on the page

Code:

{SCTwitterShare href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report text=At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition… or less data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}

and

Code:

{SCOpenGraph description=This is the latest in a series of articles published at the beginning of every calendar quarter. Here, we present the updated status of the 911TAP Petition Project at the end of the 4th Quarter 2017…}

What gets generated is:

Code:

<meta name="twitter:description" content="This is the latest in a series of articles published at the beginning of every calendar quarter. Here, we present the updated status of the 911TAP Petition Project at the end of the 4th Quarter 2017…"/>
<meta property="og:description" content="This is the latest in a series of articles published at the beginning of every calendar quarter. Here, we present the updated status of the 911TAP Petition Project at the end of the 4th Quarter 2017…"/>

Where this should be:

Code:

<meta name="twitter:description" content="At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition…"/>
<meta property="og:description" content="This is the latest in a series of articles published at the beginning of every calendar quarter. Here, we present the updated status of the 911TAP Petition Project at the end of the 4th Quarter 2017…"/>

It would seem as if you are missing some logic that perhaps goes like the following:

If SCTwitterShare text="…" exists in Easy Tags use that for twitter:description, else if SCOpenGraph description="…" exists in Easy Tags use that for twitter:description else if twitter:description exists in Social Meta -> Configuration -> Defaults use that for twitter:description else use og:description="…" in Social Meta -> Configuration -> Defaults for twitter:description.

What I would like, is to have a module that picks up the Easy Tag info that exists for each piece of content along with the the defaults set in Social Meta -> Configuratoin -> Defaults.

I would like to enter the Easy Tag information similar to the following:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">

{JFBCLike href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report layout=button show_faces=false share=true width=60 action=like colorscheme=dark ref=911-tap-quarterly-01-18-petition-report kid_directed_site=false}

{SCOpenGraph twitter:image:alt=9/11 TAP Quarterly Petition Report Banner}
{SCGooglePlusOne https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}
{SCOpenGraph image=https://www.911tap.org/images/articles/2018/01/petition-quarterly-report-fb-banner_64326.jpg}
{SCOpenGraph url=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report}
{SCOpenGraph title=911TAP Petition Project Quarterly Progress Report}
{SCOpenGraph description=This is the latest in a series of articles published at the beginning of every calendar quarter. Here, we present the updated status of the 911TAP Petition Project at the end of the 4th Quarter 2017…}
</div>

And the Social Meta -> Configuration -> Defaults are already set as follows.

Code:

url=https://www.911tap.org/
title=9/11 Truth Action Project
og:description=The mission of the 9/11 Truth Action Project is to build and mobilize a global grassroots movement that will expose the truths of 9/11, create a groundswell of civic support, and the restoration of our civil liberties…

This generates the following Social HTML Meta Tags

So, to reiterate, what I want, is to have a module that displays on every page like the Easy Tags implementation on: https://www.911tap.org/557-news-release … rt-2017-q4

That module would use the Easy Tag information of the page if it exists, else use the default information found in Social Meta Configuration -> Defaults

The venue specific tags on each page:

Code:

{JFBCLike href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report layout=button show_faces=false share=true width=60 action=like colorscheme=dark ref=911-tap-quarterly-01-18-petition-report kid_directed_site=false}

{SCTwitterShare href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report text=At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition… or less data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:image:alt=9/11 TAP Quarterly Petition Report Banner}
{SCGooglePlusOne https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/723-911tap-petition-project-quarterly-progress-report annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}

would be used to configure the Social Media Buttons for that page. Specifically ref=911-tap-quarterly-01-18-petition-report, and text=At the end of the 4th Quarter, 2017, 2717 people, worldwide, signed the 911TAP petition… attributes for Facebook and Twitter, respectively, are unique values and need to be picked up by the module. It would be nice if defaults for the attributes that are specific to each Social Media venue could be set in the module.

The resulting HTML would look something like:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">

Thanks Alex, and thanks for the great work. I appreciate the fact that adding and debugging a feature like this is time consuming.
With the defaults set we will be able to manage quite nicely.

I would also like to be able to get a module to pick up the tags on each page as well, so that I don't need to include the JFBCLike, SCTwitterShare and SCGooglePlusOne tags on each page. Really the only thing that needs to be set on those is the Facebook ref= attribute and the Twitter text= attribute, otherwise the URL can be picked up from the OpenGraph tags.

Yes I already responded to you there.

OK, will go ahead and install.

Now all I need is a JCE-Editor plugin that provides a graphics interface for adding the Easy tags to the bottom of the article like:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">
<div class="JFBC-Config">{JFBCLike href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/714-bobby-mcilvaine-world-trade-center-investigation-act layout=button_count show_faces=false share=true width=120 action=like colorscheme=dark ref=bobby-mcilvain-act kid_directed_site=false}</div>

<div class="JFBC-Config">{SCGooglePlusOne https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/714-bobby-mcilvaine-world-trade-center-investigation-act annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}</div>
{SCOpenGraph article:author=911tap}

{SCOpenGraph image=https://www.911tap.org/images/articles/2018/01/bobby-mcilvaine-act-fb-banner_91bf1.jpg}
{SCOpenGraph url=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/714-bobby-mcilvaine-world-trade-center-investigation-act}
{SCOpenGraph title=Bobby McIlvaine World Trade Center Investigation Act}

{SCOpenGraph audio=https://content.jwplatform.com/players/Zf88zyiO-A4cZR76S.html}
</div>

I would want it to provide text boxes with labels like

Open Graph site Name [9/11 Truth Action Project] - this would not be editable and could only be changed in plugin parameters

URL [https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/714-bobby-mcilvaine-world-trade-center-investigation-act] - https://www.911tap.org is default that can be set in the plugin parameters

Twitter Description [The Bobby McIlvaine World Trade Center Investigation Act will empanel a select committee] - The mission of the 9/11 Truth Action Project is to mobilize a global grassroots movement… would be the default that would be set in the plugin

Facebook Search Reference ref= [bobby-mcilvain-act] - 911-truth-action-project is default that can be set in the plugin parameters

Article Author [911tap] - 911tap is default that can be set in the plugin parameters

Twitter Image Alt Text [Bobby McIlvaine Act Poster Image] - Default would be 9/11 Truth Action Project Banner that can be set in the plugin parameters.

Open Graph Video [https://content.jwplatform.com/players/ENno7di6-A4cZR76S.html] - https://content.jwplatform.com/players/ … ZR76S.html would be the default that would be set in the plugin parameters

Right now I use the JCE-Editor Template Manager to create a frame work for the articles which include the Easy Tags. The problem is that the Editor strips the line feeds between the tags and it come out looking like:

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">
<div class="JFBC-Config">{JFBCLike href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/714-bobby-mcilvaine-world-trade-center-investigation-act layout=button_count show_faces=false share=true width=120 action=like colorscheme=dark ref=BobbyMcIlvaine01 kid_directed_site=false}</div>

Which is pretty difficult for people figure out where things go.

I know that would mean that you would have to also support the CKE-Editor as well, but maybe it only means extending the TinyMCE editor code, which is what the JCE and CKE editors are based on.

I know I am asking for the Moon here, but after Elon Musk so arrogantly sent a Tesla Roadster on an endless journey in an elliptical orbit around the Sun and reaching beyond the orbit of Mars, maybe we can at least shoot for the Moon here.

Worried that the image information added to article via Easy Tags may no longer be honored.

I just spent a huge amount of time re-writing the easy tags for all of our content and would hate to find out that the update sent me back to the drawing boards.

I wouldn't think this would be the case, but I saw a support topic where someone was having trouble with images being grabbed from the article rather than from the meta data.

Using Easy Tags alone I got everything to work by wrapping everything in a div with ID jfbcSocialMediaButtons.
See: https://www.911tap.org/tap-media/buildi … as-jingles
and https://www.911tap.org/ and https://www.911tap.org/557-news-release … gation-act

In each instance the post is unique. The Home page <meta names> and <meta properties> are generated by the defaults in Social Meta Configuration. the other pages the <meta name> and <meta property> values are generated by Easy Tags.

Here is the generic markup I am using which is part of the JCE Editor article template.

Code:

<div id="jfbcSocialMediaButtons">
<div class="JFBC-Config">
{JFBCLike href=href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias layout=button_count show_faces=false share=true width=120 action=like colorscheme=dark ref=short-name-of-article-30-chars-or-less kid_directed_site=false}
</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">
{SCTwitterShare href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias text=Description of Article in 90 characters or less data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}
</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">
{SCGooglePlusOne https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}
</div>
{SCOpenGraph article:author=911tap}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:creator=911tap}
{SCOpenGraph twitter:image:alt=text-depiction of image}
{SCOpenGraph image=https://www.911tap.org/images/articles/20xx/mm/name-of-article-facebool-image.jpg}
{SCOpenGraph url=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias}
{SCOpenGraph title=Title of the Article}
{SCOpenGraph description=Description of article in 220 characters or less…}
{SCOpenGraph type=article}
{SCOpenGraph site_name=9/11 Truth Action Project}
{SCOpenGraph video=https://content.jwplatform.com/players/ENno7di6-A4cZR76S.html}
{SCOpenGraph audio=https://content.jwplatform.com/players/Zf88zyiO-A4cZR76S.html}
</div>

The problem with this is that setting all these <meta names> and <meta properties> by hand is fraught with the ever present chance of typos, especially by people that aren't HTML and CSS savvy.

I would like the module to take over the job of providing:

Code:

<div class="JFBC-Config">
{SCTwitterShare href=https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias text=Description of Article in 90 characters or less data_count=horizontal via=911tap related=ae911truth,911Blogger,DC911truth hashtags=911truth,wtc7 size=medium dnt=false}
</div>
<div class="JFBC-Config">
{SCGooglePlusOne https://www.911tap.org/557-news-releases/item_id-item_alias annotation=bubble size=standard align=left recommendations=true}
</div>

But more than this I would like a plugin for the JCE Editor that allows me to add these values through a GUI interface instead, eliminating the high probability that someone will make a typo entering the Easy Tag information by hand, that will break the page, especially if they accidentally delete a closing div.

I have been working with Ryan at JoomlaContentEditor.com and he is working on trying to get nested quotes to work correctly. Never-the-less, I think those guys would welcome a Social Media plugin like JFBConnect to let people add things like image, description, title, video, audio, OpenGraph and Twitter name and property values for each piece of content.

I create a second image for each article that is 1200 x 600 pixels and uplaod it to the folderf on hte website where the article resides. Facebook's recommendation for images is 1200 x 630 pixels and Twitter's 1200 x 600. I just go with 1200 x 600 and keep any important elements of the image 30 pixels away from the edges and everything works out just fine, I don't use the K2 Item image as that is just not appropriate for Facebook, Twitter or Google+, the three Social Media venues I enable.

So that is what I am asking, is for the JFBC Social Share module that will pick up the meta information for the active page and a JCE Editor plugin that will provide a graphical interface for adding the OpenGraph and Twitter Easy Tags at the bottom of "Article" in Joomla or "Item" in K2 so that novice authors can add these themselves. As it is I ask them to fill out the Easy Tags in the Code Editor which isn't something they are comfortable with.

I am also working with ACyMailing and they are turning a support question I had into a feature request for adding the same things that Easy Tags provides except the social media buttons are displayed in Newsletter emails, but as in the case of what I am asking for here, I am also asking them that it be a graphical interface so that people editing emails on our site are able to avoid trouble by staying away from HTML and CSS and the nuances of adding tags in code view. In this case a drop down of available content. the reason for the ACYMailing request is that market research shows that when people are presented a lot of material to ready they tend to put it off, but when they are presented with just one article they tend to find the time to read it. Having social media icons that target that particular article are a really good deal in that instance.

Well that is about it, not asking much, just for the moon.

Should I be using another module for this like SCSocial Widget or should I create my own Custom module adding the following instead:

Thanks for the really quick response Melissa. I will wait for the next release. I don't think it is a game changer right now, except Twitter will probably choose the first twitter: description tag it finds. I might try changing the order and see if I can get the declared twitter:description tag to get added to the top of the list.

You have provided an interface for including a lot of the Open Graph data, but I would like to know how to include things like video and audio, image: height, image: width, music.song, musing.album. music .radio-station, etc.

Is this possible or am I asking for the moon?

The following appears to work just fine. I checked the meta tags against Open Graph protocol and Twitter card reference and they seem to be fine.

Yeh, Using the Share Quote widget, the post comes out looking like the following:

http://webdev.911truthoutreach.org/images/temp/b-mcillvaine-act-share-quote-post.jpg

Really nice work, again, Alex.

Yeh, those posts do look good. JFBConnect is what makes these kinds of posts possible, I don't think the majority of Joomla users realize this.

This is a terrific component Alex. I need to see if I can add new review on the JED again so others can know the advantages that JFBConnect can provide to their site.

Without JFBConnect there would just be generic images, titles and descriptions sent with each post, With JFBConnect, each article, or each piece of content for that matter, can have targeted titles, descriptions and images to go with each click of the "Share" button.

And don't let me forget, you also included a really cool feature that allows the user to select some text and then a little tab pops up that says "Share Quote." Click that and the user can now share a really great looking post along with that selected text, all without having to type or copy and paste anything.

Great component Alex.

Thanks for the lightening fast reply Alex.

I will hunt it down from there. It must be included in one of the plugin -> view  folders. Then I can either uninstall that plugin or look for a setting in the options for that component, or disable the php that generates that script.

Right now everything is working correctly and there are no problem sharing, liking, tweeting or google plusing and no problems logging in using social media accounts, but I am sure it will create a gotcha somewhere down the line.

This is a screen capture of a Facebook Share post and as you can see, there are no issues.

Auto-tune reported "Test: Facebook Javascript library inclusion - Fail: Another Facebook extension is installed, including the Facebook Javascript library, and may conflict."

I have the following other Social Media Plugins/Packages installed other than Source Coast:

AcyMailing : share on social networks -      Acyba
Easy Profile - Social Network - JSN Project
Easy Profile - Social Network package - JSN Project
Easy Profile - SocialConnect plugin - JSN Project
Socialnetwork View - JSN Project

Everything is disabled except for the JFBConnect plugins.

Do I need to also un-install some of these plugins to eliminate the conflict?

Do you have experience with these and can suggest which one I can safely enable and which ones I should un-install?

I don't need the EasySocial and JomSocial plugins so I will go ahead and un-install those and see if Autotune is happy after I do that. No made no difference

In the man time, any kind of heads up you can give me will be appreciated.

Facebook Redirection Occurring regardless of whether I try to access the front end or the back end.

Seems to have something to do with my local computer and not something mischievous happening on some DNS server somewhere. I haven't been able to figure it out, but the problem hasn't occurred for several day now, so whatever it was, maybe it timed out. It happened on Firefox and Chrome at the same time which sort of precludes it from being a browser cache issue unless Firefox and Chrome caches talk to each other which I completely doubt. I had other people access the same pages including the admin page and they weren't having the issue I was having. Maybe Facebook installed a transitory DLL that caused the issue; but really I have no idea, I am just guessing.

After using a Facebook Business Page connected to my personal Facebook account for over a year...

I will change the Drupal community's perception on paid extensions. People can't work for free and if people can't get paid to put food on the table while they work, they will do  poor work. I have to port a Drupal 7 module to Drupal 8. maybe that will be sufficient to get accepted by the Drupal community. Once I get accepted I will argue for paid extensions and I will argue along the line that people need to pay rent and buy food.

I will let you know if I have any success.
