Problem with Facebook API working sometimes

Good morning Alex - OK, so I managed to fix my problem, here is how I got there.

1. Modified base_facebook.php line 810

$opts = self::$CURL_OPTS;
    // SourceCoast - JFBConnect - Use setting to always include the Cert instead of failing and retrying every time.
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
    $jfbcConfigModel = new JFBConnectModelConfig();
     if ($jfbcConfigModel->getSetting('facebook_curl_disable_ssl', true))
        $opts[CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER] = false;

2. Modified .htaccess

to include the following line of code

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

Everything working perfectly now

Thanks again

Problem with Facebook API working sometimes

Good morning - I have a similar problem on one of my sites, but not the other.  It also seems to have just appeared, was working perfectly two days ago.  I have tried the fix you recomended above, but to no avail.  If I go in therough the admin side, I see the following error when I open JFBConnect

Facebook API Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:func(144):reason(134)

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Alex, just to let you know I installed 4.0.1 and all is working without the need for the added line in permissions.

Thanks again Alex, great product, great support and great update.

Fantastic - Any chance of offline permission in 4.0.1 current/wink

Just a thought Alex - why not start a page for showcasing sites that are using JFBConnect current/wink

Thanks

Just one more comment - you need to add likes for games - currently there is no option in the drop down selection list to import the users_likes_games

Glad to be of help Alex, and looking forward to the next release.

Alex,

Just to let you know that I have solved the problem.  Everything is now working.

Here is what I did.

In the Joomla backend admin, I went to JFBConnect component, Configuration, Permissions.
In the Additional Permissions Request: field, I entered the following

user_likes

Applied the changes, logged out of front end, then back in again, using the JFB Login button.  This time, I was prompted to give permission to allow my website to access user_likes, Music, Books etc.

All now working 100%

Thanks again

Fixed it Alex,

I cleared my browsing data on Google Chrome, "Since beginning of history" and all is now working.  Also upgrade to latest version, but this did not fix the problem, until I cleared my browsing data as outlined above.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Alex,

I just tested your demo site as a new user, and it imported my Interests & Activities, but not Music, Books etc.

Just noticed on Facebook Developers that

Music is listed under user_likes
Interests is listed under user_interests

Not sure if this makes any difference.

Which file is the above information stored in on JFBConnect, so I can have a poke around.

Thanks again Alex.

Thanks Alex,

Still no difference on my site, will test on the demo site.  However, I notice that Music, Books, Movies, Television and Games are now listed under Arts & Entertainments on Facebook, not under Activities & Interests.  Have they made a change?

BTW - Testing with all browsers, not just Chrome.

Thanks for the prompt support as always Alex.

I will try some of your suggestions later on today, however, I am MAC based, so this may be part of the cause.

Will update you as soon as I can get some more testing done.

Problem Importing
Category: JFBConnect

Good morning,

I have recently installed JFB Connect on a Joomla 1.7 site, with JomSocial 2.4 installed. I have been playing around with importing data from Facebook to JomSocial, and almost every field works perfectly with the exception of the list below:-

Likes & Interests
Music
Books
Movies
TV

This is a strange one as the Likes & Interests works for both Activities and Interests, but I can not get it to import Music, Books, Movies or TV.  Not only does it not import, but the user is never prompted for permission to import this data eiher, whereas for all the other fields, the user is prompted to grant permission.

Could there be a mapping issue in the code somewhere?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Regards

Gary

FB Connect Button not appearing in Google Chrome
Category: JFBConnect

Good morning,

I have been using JFB Connect since the very early days, and I am 1000% delighted with the product.  I have to say, it is the best Joomla Component on the market, in my opinion.  However, I recently noticed while testing a new site, that the Login button for JFB Connect is not appearing on Chrome browser.  I have both Joomla 1.5 and 1.7 site, so various versions of JFB Connect installed, and some at version 4.0 whilst others at 3.x.

My Chrome version is 13.0.782.215 and I am using MAC Lion OS

Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

BTW - FYI, the demo site for JFB Connect does not work in Chrome either http://www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/d … isterlogin

Thanks again for the best component on the market.

Problems when using $pushfacebook

Thanks for the prompte reply Alex.  I made the change you suggested, and it prevents User 1 posting to User 2's wall, great job.  However, I have also noticed that the code I use will not post to Users 1's FB wall, if User 2 is currently logged into FB and User 1 into Kumbooka.

It appears that in order to work, I have to have the user logged into both Facebook and Kumbooka.

I am currently building a mobile app, and this means that the $pushfacebook as I use it, will never allow the user to push from the iPhone app.

Any thoughts on how I can modify the code in order to allow the push to Facebook, even if the user has already logged out of Facebook, but has stayed logged into Kumbooka?

Thanks again for the best Facebook connect product on the market, and keep up the good work Alex.

Problems when using $pushfacebook

Can anyone help.  I am using the $pushfacebook function within my code to allow users to push detail to thir wall.  It works fine under the following condition:-

User 1 is logged into Facebook
User 1 is logged into Kumbooka

However, if User 2 is logged into Facebook, and User 1 is logged into Kumbooka, the details pushed from Kumbooka by User 1 appear on User 2's Facebook wall.  Further to this, it appears as if User 2 posted it, rather than User 1 who did the actual post from Kumbooka.

My guess is that we are finding out the user that is logged into Facebook, rather than the user that is logged into Kumbooka, and then doing the push.

How can I resolve this issue?

The actual code I am using is the following

$pushfacebook = JRequest::getInt('pushfacebook',0);

            if ($pushfacebook) {

                require_once JPATH_ROOT.DS.'components'.DS.'com_jfbconnect'.DS.'libraries'.DS.'facebook.php';
                ob_start();
                $jfbuser = JRequest::getInt('user_id', 0);
                $title = JText::sprintf(" %s %s", $itemstatus, $stuff->jr_title);
                $jfbname = JText::sprintf(" %s", $stuff->jr_title);
                $jfbcaption = "socialise your stuff at Kumbooka.com";
                $jfburl = "http://www.kumbooka.com/index.php?option=com_kbksearch&task=contentdetail&asin=". $stuff->jr_asin;
                $jfbimages = $stuff->jr_mediumimage;
                $jfbvideo = "http://www.youtube.com/v/". $stuff->jr_youtube;
                $jfbactions = "{'name':'View my full collection','link': 'http://www.kumbooka.com/index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&userid=$jfbuser&Itemid=93'}";
                if(isset($stuff->jr_youtube))
                    $vals = array("message"=>$title, "picture"=>$jfbimages, "link"=>$jfburl, "name"=>$jfbname, "caption"=>$jfbcaption, "source"=>$jfbvideo, "actions"=>$jfbactions);
                else
                    $vals = array("message"=>$title, "picture"=>$jfbimages, "link"=>$jfburl, "name"=>$jfbname, "caption"=>$jfbcaption, "actions"=>$jfbactions);

                $fbLibrary = JFBConnectFacebookLibrary::getInstance();
                $fbLibrary->setFacebookMessage( $vals );

                //echo 'alert("Hi");';

                $html = ob_get_contents();
                ob_end_clean();
                $result->facebook = $html;

            } else {
                $result->facebook = '';
            }
        } else {
            $result->result = $this->_db->getError();
            $result->status = "Error";
        }
//var_dump($table);
        return $result;
    }

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Kind regards

Gary

Dear SourceCoast,

Thanks for the continued development of this component.  Great job with the changes and bug fixes, but unfortunately, I can still not log out of my site once I am logged in with JFBConnect.

Give it a try to see if you are getting the same problem.  My site is <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.kumbooka.com">www.kumbooka.com</a><!-- w -->

I uninstalled the component, the 2 plugins and the login module before reinstalling everything.

Send me an e-mail to <!-- e --><a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a><!-- e --> if you need me to supply you with logon details to the backend etc.

Thanks again for the great component, it has made a massive difference to my site.

Gary

I am also getting the same issue, and just since I upgraded to version 2.1 test version.

It happens in Safari and Firefox not tested on IE7

It does not seem to make any difference if I am logged into Facebook or not.  The only difference is that if I am logged into Facebook, then I get the popup telling me that you are about to log out of both kumbooka and Facebook.  If I am not logged into Facebook, then I do not get this message.

This is becoming a problem to me as I have multiple accounts that I use for testing, and it is near impossible to log out.

My work around is to log out of Facebook, and then back into Facebook with a different account, then refresh my kumbooka connection, and it iwll reconnect with the new account currently logged into Facebook.

I also occasionally get user with id 0 not found when logging in, I thought I had got rid of this, but it is back again.

I hope this helps.

Gary

Dear Sourcecoast,

You are doing an incredible job with this component.  OK, so we had some early problems, but you have worked through them.

I have just installed the latest version with JomSocial, and I love it.

If users want to check it out in action, they are welcome to register on my site to try it

<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.kumbooka.com">www.kumbooka.com</a><!-- w -->

Thank you so much for a fantastic component, I can recommend it 110%

Gary - Founder of Kumbooka.com

Strange, but I have noticed that I have 7 users on my system set up as unknown.unknown and a random 5 digits.  I have not noticed if the problem is the same as you mentioned, however, I will start paying more attention.  I will delete the 7 user accounts tonight, and monitor it over the next couple of days.

Apart from this, everything seems good.

Gary

I am having the same problems, but to be honest, i think this product will turn out to be a big product for the community.  These guys are already on the third RC, and they work hard to fix any bugs.  I have tried another version JoomlaFacebook, and it does not have half the functionality that these guys are working on.  Although I am unable to use it as is, I am sticking with it, I am sure the next RC will answer a lot of the problems.  I believe they are also going to give us more configuration options from the backend - this, I hope, will make the product into something great.

Clark,  I just tried your site again, and things have got worse.  Your site now looks like it is down, I only get the following page:-

Warning: Missing argument 1 for JFBConnectFacebookHelper::_getUserInfo(), called in /home/mfh/public_html/plugins/authentication/jfbconnectauth.php on line 48 and defined in /home/mfh/public_html/components/com_jfbconnect/helpers/facebookhelper.php on line 174

Sourcecoast :- Any thoughts as to what is going on?  I am keen to use your component, but with the results we are seeing, I am afraid I will have to steer clear of it for now.  Your comments are appreciated.

Clark, I am impressed with the way you modified the module, it looks perfect.  However, like my installation, your Facebook Connect does not seem to be working.  I have tried to register on your site 3 time now, but with no luck.  The first attempt took me to the screen where I can type my username and password, and allow the connect, however, when I clicked to allow, the Facebook connect sub window just went blank, and would not close.  Now when I try again, the window locks up.

Any thoughts.

Gary

I must say, I was very excited when I downloaded the lates version RC3.  But all has not gone well, basically, log in using FaceBook Connect works well, but when I log out, Safari tries to take the user back to the home page, but eventually drops the connection to the server with the error message that there has been too many redirects.

OK, so I am sure we can fix this.  My next question, is how do I play around with the CSS etc.  Basically, the default style is too large for my logon area, and I do not want to move my logon to another module.  Is it possible to simply show the FaceBook connect and logout icons in a module, without the username / password / register and Open ID links.  This way, I could present just the FaceBook link in a module somewhere, and at the same time, keep my normal log on module in the header of my template.

There is a site using FaceBook connect very well, <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jost.com">www.jost.com</a><!-- w -->, are they using your component, or have they built their own.  The way they have it working, is exactly what I want to achieve.

So many questions, but thanks for the great component, and I am truly excited about the thought of getting it working.

Kind regards

Gary
