I like the SourceCoast approach.   It would be nice if the user could change the permissions any time they want from our app.  It would also be nice if they don't allow that we ask again every time they do something we want to post.  Lots of sites do this.  I personally would also like to offer a way to completely turn it off but we dont want it to be too obviou how to turn it completely off!!  <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->

Only one comment... well, question actually.   When can you have it done?  <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->

Ok, installed ver 2.5.2 and bumped the Joomla user plugin up ove the JFBUser plugin.  New users are now getting the wall post when creating an account.  My existing users do not appear to be getting posts even though the permissions are set as instructed earlier in this string.  The redirect issues appear to be resolved as well.

Thanks,
Carl.

Having the same problem, nothing posted to my wall.  I verified that the Application settings are set as directed but no luck.

I noticed the check for the FBComments plugin when I installed the new version of JFBConnect.  Thanks for the plug!!!!!

I am going to try to integrate a few apps with the JFBConnect message functionality.  I will keep you posted as I make progress.

Thanks, Carl.

And JUST when I was considering changing to the default JomSocial FBConnect functionality you come along and up the anti again.  Nice job SourceCoast!!

In the change log for 2.5 it lists:
- Added ability to post status message updates to Facebook on registration or login. Also available to 3rd party devs

The part that caught my eye was "Also available to 3rd party devs."  Any documentation on how to use this feature?

Thanks,
Carl.

Any news on a stable release of the new version yet?

Is a stable version of this due out soon?

It would be really nice if the JFBConnect login module worked like the CB login module in that rather than always redirecting to a specific pace it redirected back to the page it was called from.  If I am browsing in the forums and leave the page idle long enough to time out when I come back and resume browsing the login module is kind enough to log me back in but it redirects me away from where I was browsing back to the page spec'd in the module... most annoying.

Thanks, Carl.

In the process of trouble shooting some issues with FBComments I think I found the fix for the problems with sh404SEF and possibly some other reported issues with native Joomla SEF causing 500 errors as well.

In this file: joomlaroot-->components-->com_jfbconnect-->helpers-->facebookhelper.php

Around lines 26 through 29 you should find this code:

Code:

function getXDReceiverLink()
          {
               return "index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&view=xdreceiver&format=raw";
          }

Simply add a preceeding “/” to the line that starts with “return” so it looks like this:

Code:

function getXDReceiverLink()
          {
               return "/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&view=xdreceiver&format=raw";
          }

Thanks, Carl.

After a bit of troubleshooting, there appears to be an issue with FireFox and how the redirects are handled when sh404SEF.  If sh404SEF is configured to skip JFBConnect, and the redirecto after new user creation is set to a non sef URL then it works fine in IE7.  However to get FireFox to work sh404SEF must be completely disabled or the redirect returns a 500 error.

Hope this info is useful.

Thanks, Carl.

Guess this question was answered by the release of the version that support JomSocial...  YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we worked with John and got his issues resolved.

Thanks, Carl.

I would vote for 3.  I have had some issues where I accidentally mapped my own account to a new FB account when I had not planned on it.  Checking to make sure the user REALLY wants to map to a new account but allowing them to do so gives us the most flexibility in my opinion.

Thanks, Carl.

This is a bit off topic but very pertinent to JFBConnect.  Now that we have this great component that enables us to utilize FBConnect we need to get other components to take advantage of this.  From my perspective one of the most important components to get integrated is a forum so that posts to the forum are also posted on a users FB Profile.  My sites uses Kunena so that is where I am starting.  If you would like to see Kunena add this functionality please let the developers know by voting for this feature request:

Thanks, Carl.

Understood completely on the feature freeze.  Any chance I could "influence" the location on the future feature list with some $$$ for custom dev?

Any comment on this?  Is this on the roadmap for JFBConnect?

Thanks, Carl.

Clark,

Please post your login module.  It looks perfect!

Thanks, Carl.

Hi Gary, I also found the default login module too large for my liking so I modified it myself. I tried initially to take the facebook connect part out and integrate that into an existing module, but it was too difficult for me to get working properly. What I did instead was to take the good parts out of yoologin and integrate those into the standard jfb login module instead.

The file that you want to modify is not actually a css file but rather default.php in the tmpl folder within the module folder.

My modified module can be seen at [url:29y65l9c]http://www.mightyfightinghawks.com[/url:29y65l9c] I can post up the code tonight, if you want it let me know.

How difficult would it be to implement FBs demographic restrictions?  Is this in the works?  Also is a Jomsocial integration planned?

Thanks, Carl.

There seems to be some issue with the sessions.  If I am logged into my site with JFB and have an open FB tab running sometimes my FB connection in joomla disappears but I am still logged into joomla.  If I try to click the facebook icon it logs me in a unknown.unknown.  No mapping is created but a Joomla user is created.  I am again testing this in FF.  I will give it a try with IE.

Also in FF if I have a tab open with FB in it and try to login or create an account in another tab one of two things happen, either a unknown.unknown user is created in Joomla and I am logged into that user or the screen goes blank and I have to wait for the session to time out or I have to disable the JFBLogin module, restart FF and reload the page.  I have not tried IE as extensively but at first glance it appears to have similar behavior.

Let me know if you need additional testing or information.

I am very excited about this component, let me know what I can do to help.

Thanks, Carl.

I am using  a non sef url in the new user redirect.  IT points the new user to the JomSocial edit profile page.

Tested RC2, same issue.  With sh404SEF completely disabled, it works.  With it turned and set to ignore JFBConnect, it returns a 500 error.  I had all the specifics in a post but hit the save button instead of post and dont have time to repost.  I will try to do it tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick reply on this subject!

I did as sugested and turned off user authentication.  This did change the result, now I get

Forbidden access
(Flooding)

Is this because I have tried so many times with the authentication turned on?

THanks, Carl.

Exact same happening here.  I noticed that a new user is getting created everytime I try to login but it is not logging me in and the usermap table is still empty.  It does not appear to be mapping my user if I am logged in either.  But if I login using my Joomla acct, the login module shows as though I am logged in via fb and shows my fb pic.

I guess I should have read more carefully.  Since the demo appeared to log  me into Joomla I assumed the component/module would as well.  Honestly I feel we have  a bit of false advertising here.  A component and module that allows a user to log into FB remotely, BFD!!!  That is usesless.

Will this integrate with JomSocial?  Specifically, if I install this component will a user be able to create an account that will work with JomSocial?  If so, will it DL the FB avatar?

If the Avatar will not be downloaded, how much would you charge to add that functionality?

THanks, Carl.
