I've looked into this a bit more and now realise that the code to check folder locations isn't a good way to go anyway, since EasySocial at the back end settings allows for you to select any location as the avatar base folder (for which it then creates a user subfolder), so to make sure things are fool proof you need to be checking the database to find what that location is set to (I believe it's in table _social_config)
I just checked and I see you created an account on our live site, but the FTP access info is our test site. I realise perhaps it wasn't clear what the URL was for that, so I've just sent that to you.
I've just installed the latest version and unfortunately the error is back. I had a quick look in the new version of .../plugins/opengraph/easysocial/easysocial.php and I can see the code you have put in to detect if it's a new or old version of EasySocial, but what seems to be happening is that the if check part of that code is returning false even though the ...media/com_easysocial/avatars/users folder exists, so it's back to giving the error of the file not existing since it's looking at the old style url. I have to admit I'm not so familiar with Joomla as to be able to see why the way it's coded doesn't work as it looks to me like it should!
Thanks for that, yes it is the file /plugins/opengraph/easysocial/easysocial.php that is set to the wrong path, so changing that fixed the problem. Guess there is an easy bug fix for you for next release :-)
We have just started getting an error. We are not sure if something has got corrupted as the site was fine this morning but there was a period when it went offline (we haven't yet asked the hosting what happened) so something may have got corrupt. The error is for example:
Warning: getimagesize(https://faenet.org/media/com_easysocial … dium.png): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found in /home/faenet5/public_html/libraries/sourcecoast/openGraph.php on line 410
and when I check I see there is no folder /media/com_easysocial/users but there is a folder with the specified image file in it at /media/com_easysocial/avatar/users
For now we have set Joomla to not show any messages so as not to panic our users, but we are concerned something may be broken somehow. I'm going to post also in the StackIdeas support as it's not clear if it's a JFBC or EasySocial thing.
I can confirm that "JFBConnect backend > Configuration > General > 'Send New User Email' option is set to No (although I presumed that would only send to the new user and not the Admin as well, but I turned it off just to be sure!)
When you say "There is also an option in JFBConnect for sending user emails for social registrations" is that referring to above and if not please advise where the setting is?
For the actual message, from the source this is the starting point of the HTML in case you recognise it:
<base href="https://faenet.org/" target="_blank" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
/* What it does: Remove spaces around the email design added by some email clients. */
/* Beware: It can remove the padding / margin and add a background color to the compose a reply window. */
margin: 0 auto !important;
The actual message starts:
Awesome! A new user registered on the site.
Hello Buzzy Cnayl,
This is a notification to let you know that a new user has registered on the site. This e-mail contains their details
We are using JFBConnect in conjunction with EasySocial and when a new user registers using the Facebook account option, an email is sent to Admins announcing this, but we have set in both Joomla & EasySocial not to send notification emails for new registrations. The emails look like they come from EasySocial but they have said it must be JFBConnect not respecting the "do not send" option and asking for one to be sent. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks - in the end it solved itself as we changed it from having admin approve user to auto approve, so now when they register via social media, it logs them right in and to the page selected. I guess something about having it set that they can'y login until approved by an administrator confuses something somewhere!
I am using JFBConnect buttons on an EasySocial system (with the JFBConnect selected as active in EasySocial) but when a new user registers via the Facebook icon, the first time they log in they don't get re-directed as per the setting in JFBConnect (General | Login/Logout)7
It seems this is only an issue when in the settings you have "Skip Joomla User Activation" turned off (so an admin has to approve registration.) If it's set to bypass then it does re-direct user when they are logged in as the final part of the registration.
Great, I'm happy to go with as it is. I suppose my concerns about it messing up something comes from another issue I'm having with using HTTPS, but I will start another thread for that .
Hi and sorry I just saw I hadn't responded to this. My issue is all around trying to squeeze things into a small space and after a user logs in, they see the layout as per img1.png
What I was trying to get it to look like is shown in img2.png - The orientation is set to Side and Left for the social buttons yet they are underneath the logout button, not to the side of it.
In the end I have "gludged it" by using two copies of the SCLogin module, one set to only show the social buttons and one the logout button (which is how img2.png was created) but I'm wondering if this is likely to cause problems and anyway feels like it is not the "correct" way to do this!
I turned that setting on but now see "Submit for Login Review Some of the permissions below have not been approved for use by Facebook. Submit for review now or learn more. " ?
I have Orientation set as Side for the Social Button Settings, but after a user logs in the buttons for "Connect this site to your Social network?" always appear on the bottom. How to make them also on the side?
I can confirm I had the same issue on two sites (with different templates) And this fix worked, thanks.
My Extension Check screen is showing that I have Community Builder extension 5.1.0 installed but the latest version is 5.2.0. All other items are showing 5.2.n but I can't see how to update the Community Builder one (from the Joomla control panel it shows all extension up to date) I have installed com_jfbconnect_j2.5_v5.2.2.zip
Thanks for that. I can confirm using that update fixes the problem.
The site is www.buzzytantra.com but I also tested on www.quintasensual.org and see the same. I have created a test login on quintasensual.org/login which you can use if required
