Hi,

I can't get the redirect at login to work. I am using a test IP address rather than a domain name. Is this the problem? I have tried changing the redirect page but it makes no difference.

To see the popup login go to 68.168.211.147/~secondha/index.php,
it is only ever redirected to 68.168.211.147/~secondha

thanks,

Liz

Liz,
The redirect on that page looks to be properly setup to go to "/~secondha/contact.html" after a successful login. If you're not going there, I'd check the following:
* Disable any SEF extensions you have enabled, or Joomla's built-in SEF, and test again
* Check for any System, User, or Authentication plugins that may be attempting to redirect the user. Disable any plugins that you're unsure about and test again.

The IP address shouldn't be a problem at all.

Finally, if none of that helps, let me know how you're trying to login: Joomla credentials or Facebook? The information above should apply to both, but to further help, we'll need more information. Also, does the redirect work for the 'other' one (if Joomla isn't working, does Facebook redirect work)?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I have narrowed the problem down to when the setting 'Use URL rewriting' is set to Yes. I have attached my .htaccess file but it is the standard .htaccess, except for the Rewritebase I am using until the site goes live.

THanks,

Liz

Why are you using the RewriteBase? Are you switching the URL to a 'real' domain instead of the IP address, or something else.

Either way, while you're on the test site, I'd simply recommend testing without the .htaccess file and the "Enable URL Rewriting" setting in Joomla. You can still leave the SEF URLs enabled. Your URLs will just have /index.php/ in them while testing. It should let you test just about everything until you move to the live site though.

I hope that helps. I'm not sure why that .htaccess file would be causing the problems you mention though, so hopefully the solution above works for you, for now.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex, I use the RewriteBase if I don't have the domain setup which initially was the case with this site. I will hopefully going live this weekend so I will test with SEF again then (once I'm no longer using RewriteBase). I'll let you know how it goes either way. Thanks so much for your help with this (and quick responses).

Cheers,

Liz

No problem for all the help. If you have the problems on the live site, we'll gladly dig deep into it. It's not really worth it (in our opinion) to go crazy with an investigation on a development site using an IP address.

Whenever you need more help, just let us know, and good luck with going live!

Thanks,
Alex
