Hi SourceCoast,
we had purchased and so far successfuly implemented JLinked with JomSocial. I have a few questions about an issue that rises during the registration with LinkedIn:

After clicking the LinkedIn button im redirected to Linked in domain where i have to approve registration and eventually authenticate myself. Part of this form is a checkbox "Permission for profile import granted.". After success im redirected back to the site where I am prompted with another form that asks for my password and another permission to import profile.

The question is:
Is there a reason to ask for a pasword when beeing redirected back to the site, instead of simply logging user in?
Is there a reason to ask again for the permission to import profile, when user already gives his conscend on the side of LinkedIn?
Can this "second" step of registration be bypassed somehow?

Thanks for your answer.

On a sidenote, I belive i found a bug in the lang file of JLinked:
./en-GB.com_jlinked.ini:41:COM_JLINKED_EMAIL_REGISTERED_BODY_NOPASSWORD="Hello %s,\n\nThank you for registering at %s.\n\nYou may now log in to %s using your Facebook credentials."
Since im authentificating via LinkedIn reference to Facebook is irelevant.

Take care.

Please upgrade to JLinked v2.1. That checkbox is removed in the latest release due to changes in how we support LinkedIn's API and requirements.

I"m not sure what you mean here. Are you saying after the page with the "Permission for profile import granted." and you hit "Register", you're brought to another page where you can register? If so, can you post the URL of the page where we can see that behavior. It's not normal.

The only thing I can think may be happening here is that you have User Activation enabled in Joomla and are not 'skipping' it in JLinked, and so we can't log the user in automatically.

Your Questions

Is there a reason to ask for a pasword when beeing redirected back to the site, instead of simply logging user in?

No, that shouldn't happen. Additionally, with v2.1, you can use "Automatic" registration where the user's account will be created automatically and they will be logged in immediately (if user activation is disabled).

Is there a reason to ask again for the permission to import profile, when user already gives his conscend on the side of LinkedIn?

No, not anymore, as of JLinked v2.1. Originally, LinkedIn's terms did require that. They changed how the login permissions worked on their popup and it's not required to ask again on our site since the LinkedIn authentication popup explains the type of information your site is requesting (and the user can deny them).

The language string you mention has also been updated already in the 2.1 release as well.

Long story short, upgrade to JLinked v2.1. It has the option for a better registration process and should fix all the issues/questions you mention above.

Hope that helps,
Alex
