This may be outside the scope of your support, but I thought I'd ask for help here, as Jomsocial's support is so slow and you guys are so helpful.

Jomsocial has a funny "Home" page that is hard to customize (requires hacking core file of the component) and is not very pretty or useful. (The dreaded "Get Connected" page.)

I'm trying to set up a custom registration page that would have both a "Register using LinkedIN" Button that ties this JLinked, as well as a form that is effectively the beginning of the standard Jomsocial registration process.

I've seen your tutorial on how to drop the Login with LinkedIN button into both the "Home" page and the registration page. I'm concerned about doing either of those changes, since my template (RocketTheme's Tachyon) is managed by Gantry and I don't know how this change might have wider consequences.

I'm lousy at SEF and can't figure out how to force a link directly to the registration page, avoiding the "Home" page.

Any insights here? I wish Jomsocial had a component menu item option direct to "register" but alas.

First, you don't need to edit core files to edit that page. You can create a 'template override' by copying the file you want to edit from the /components/com_community/templates/<name>/ directory to /templates/<YOUR_TEMPLATE>/html/com_community
Then, edit the file you just created. That prevents your changes from being overridden. That should work on RocketTheme's template without any issues as well, just so you know.

I'm not sure of the exact link to create for going to the register page, but it's easy.. just go there and use the URL in the address bar of your browser. You can't go wrong with that.

Hope that helps get you going, but if I missed a question in there, just let me know!

Glad we're helpful and hope things are going well with JLinked. Once you get things up and running, we'd love it if you'd consider leaving a rating and review for JLinked, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory:

Thanks, and good luck!

Thanks for the override tip.

Is there a way to style the "Login with LinkedIN" button that embeds with {JLinkedLogin} be bigger or different? Looks small and lesser compare to the "register now" button here on my new front page:

We have a couple of built-in styles for that button. You can try {JLinkedLogin size=large} (or even xlarge) for a bigger button. If necessary, you can even create your own styles (we can help), but hopefully one of those larger buttons will work for you.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex
