Does the SCLogin module have to be published for the component to work was created by manyspears

Does the module have to be enabled/published for the entire system to work?

Is it ok to publish to an unspecified module position?

Trying to figure out the best way to new members to join, and where/how to place the buttons etc. Would be good to use the simple {JLinkedLogin} in the main body of an article.

Nope, the SCLogin module doesn't have to be published at all. To login with LinkedIn, the Login With LinkedIn button will obviously have to be displayed somewhere. That can be done by:
* Enabling the SCLogin module (which shows the button and other info)
* Using the {JLinkedLogin} button in an article text, custom HTML module, or hardcoded into a template

We shoot for flexibility and try not to 'lock' you into a specific way to do things!
