I installed updates recently and checked today on the login page. The LinkedIn login button is missing. When I view the JLinked components page, it indicates that SCLogin 4.0.1 is installed, but 3.1.1 is available.

How can I get my JLinked working again?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
Sorry for the trouble you're having. We're in the process of transitioning all users from JLinked to JFBConnect, which offers the same features and a lot more, as JLinked did.

First, can you let me know if you're using JFBConnect v6.0.1? I'm assuming so from what you said above, but I'm just not sure. If you did switch to JFBConnect, please make sure you have followed the instructions in our JLinked migration guide .

If you've done that, please let us know where we can see a page with the missing buttons and we'll gladly investigate further. If there's anything else you can tell us about the problem, that would help too (is there a 'tag' in place of where the button should be, is it just missing altogether, is it there but not working, does it look different, etc).

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Thanks for your response. I'm using JLinked 2.2.0 not JFBConnect. Would the SCLogin upgrade have killed my LinkedIn button?

I just tried to update to JFBConnect, but that didn't solve my problem. I still don't have the button. SCLogin doesn't seem to work with it anymore.

I've restored from backup so I'm back to normal, but I would like to upgrade at some point. I'll be back at it this weekend.

Sorry for the troubles. Looking at things, if you upgraded the SCLogin module but not to JFBConnect v6.0, that would likely be hiding the LinkedIn login button. The v4.x releases of SCLogin have no code for JLinked any longer as that functionality is integrated into JFBConnect. You'd want to perform the migration and just use JFBConnect after you upgrade.

I understand you rolled back, and understand why. When you're ready to try again, just let us know what steps you take and what issues you're having, and we'll gladly help investigate further and get you fixed up.

One thing to check after you update to JFBConnect v6.x and SCLogin v4.x is if you have any template overrides for either in the /templates/<YOUR_TEMPLATE>/html/ directory. If so, you may want to remove (or update) them to make sure they have the code from the new releases. If you're using an old override it may be causing conflicts with the new versions.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm working on moving from Jlinked to JFBConnect again. The JFBConnect Auto-Configuration Tool is complaining that I don't have Facebook API and key. Will JFBConnect not work with only a LinkedIn API and key?

I configured Facebook, but I'd really like to get rid of it. I really only want to use LinkedIn for authentication.

I now have both a Facebook login button and a LinkedIn button, however, the LinkedIn button does not work. When I try to use it to login I get the following error message:

Error
Error code 400 received requesting access token: {"error":"invalid_request","error_description":"missing required parameters, includes an invalid parameter value, parameter more then once. : Unable to retrieve access token : appId or redirect uri does not match authorization code or authorization code expired"}.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
Sorry for the confusion. The Autotune tool does look to require a Facebook API key right now. The only time that's used is for the Facebook App auto configuration, which is something that only Facebook allows. Other social networks don't have a method to configure the app settings remotely, which is quite convenient.

Feel free to remove the FB Api/Secret key if you don't want to allow for FB Logins. JFBConnect should work just fine without it, but if you run into issues with that, just let me know.

As for the error you're receiving when trying to login, I'm not sure what's causing that. The best I can recommend right now is making sure you've cleared your Joomla and browser caches. If that doesn't work, please let me know how I can test the authentication. I went to the sites you've run Autotune from (one seemed like the live site and the other, I'm assuming, a dev site). However, I couldn't see the login area at all to test with. Let me know how I should try, and we'll gladly help resolve the issue.

Thanks, and sorry for the troubles,
Alex

Thanks for your help Alex. I'm getting closer. I've removed the Facebook api and now only LinkedIn is left. I also cleared my cache and can now get an authentication prompt from LinkedIn. However, once I authenticate, I am returned to the login page without access to my account. I can continue to authenticate without actually logging in.

The login page is buried a bit:

f61r5.bitnamiapp.com/index.php/register-or-login

Could I have misconfigured JFBConnect?

I just went to that page, clicked the Login with LinkedIn and was successfully authenticated along with the "LinkedIn profile successfully connected." message.

Can you try to clear your browser cache and/or try from a different browser altogether and see if that helps.

From what I see, everything is working just fine.. but of course, if you're still having issues, just let me know and we'll gladly investigate further.

Thanks,
Alex
