Alex,

I'm getting the following error from jLinked:

"JLinked API Error: OAuth callback URL was not confirmed by the LinkedIn end-point ()
From:https://api.linkedin.com/uas/oauth/requestToken"

I also cannot log in to your site using my LinkedIn account. I had to use facebook this time. Is there a problem that you are aware of?

Regards,

John W.

John,
Thanks for the report. Not sure what happened, but it looks like LinkedIn changed something on their end that's breaking things. Their forums have a few posts with users having the same problem. We debugged it as best we could to provide all the information we could and posted it as well:
developer.linkedin.com/forum/oauth-callb...-point#comment-16216

Sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's anything we can do on our end, but we'll definitely keep an eye on their support area to see if there's anything that needs to be done.

Thanks, and keep us posted if the problem persists too long and you dont' hear from us!

John,
Things should be going again. The thread posted above basically ends with a developer saying "Thanks for the reports" and then another user saying "Working again". Well, yeah, it is working for us too. Not sure what the actual issue was, but hopefully, you're up and running as well.

Sorry for the troubles, and thanks for the report.

Thanks Alex,

Obviously LinkedIn changed something on their end. I guess this authentication problem points out some of the risks involved in relying on a third party (LinkedIn) for account login & registration.

Thanks for your quick replies too.

Best.

JW,
Yeah, it's a possible problem with any 3rd party extension. Honestly, LinkedIn has been incredibly stable over the last year for us. Facebook has had 2 similarly bad issues since the beginning of this year.

The good thing about LinkedIn (and Facebook too) is that they are huge companies.. so, when something like this happens, a) it usually affects enough sites that there's a loud chorus of unhappy users and b) they have the resources to fix it quickly.

Either way, glad it's going well for you again and hopefully you won't run into these problems again soon!
