SUCCESS! SUCCESS!
When entering your URLs for the Java Script API Domain in the Linked In set up, you must separate the URLs with a comma!
Wooohooo, now the button displays with either www or without.
But now my question is this, since both JFBC andf JLink have the option to display buttons from both FB and Linked In, why not just use one module in the articles and set that module to display buttons from both instead of having both modules display their own buttons?

Holy moly. We weren't aware of the comma. We'll have to do more testing to verify (not that we don't believe you, but don't want some URLs interepreted as having a comma in them). Very glad to hear you got it going, and sorry we didn't help come up with solution on our own. We honestly wouldn't have guessed that.

As for your question about the Content Plugin settings in the "Social" area... umm.. yeah.. you're right. The Open Graph areas in both extensions is just about 100% overlap. We'll likely be removing one soon and saying "Use JFBConnect's OG integration" if we detect both are installed. Something similar will happen for the Social Buttons/Like tabs. However, each extension has unique Content plugin settings (Comments for JFBC, Member and other stuff for JLinked).

We'll definitely be merging things down the line for ease-of-use, less confusion/configuration between both, and less issues/support required from us. It's just a matter of making sure we do it right so that it helps our users and us.

With that said, there actually is some odd flexibility you can have now by using both Content plugins.. like showing the 'standard' Like buttons at the top of the article (in JFBC, for instance) and using JLinked to show the box count at the bottom. Not something we expect users to do.. but something that's possible, though oddly. We'd really recommend just disabling (setting the View display to 'none') in one of the Content Plugin - Like areas (either JFBC or JLinked).

Hope that helps, and that I didn't confuse things! Again, glad you got that going, and thanks for your information on what you did!

Alex,
I found the answer to the comma question in the Getting Started with the Java API documents at developer.linkedin.com/documents/getting-started-javascript-api.

They state; "If you have multiple domains, add them all, and separate them with a comma (,)."

It was a bit of a struggle, but I got there by trying every possible permutation of my url 1 at a time http://www.pack****.com, http://pack****.com/index.php, http://pack****.com/, pack***.com
The last one nailed it!
thanks Spike, Alex

I've been reading the hole thread but finally there are no final answer on what needs to be done to have the LINK SHARE BUTTON working when you have both JCFBConnect and JLinked.
You said you will update the documentation but as far as I see there are no mention of the way to fill out correctly the Javascript API Domain field on Linkedin.
www.domain.com
www.domain.com
domain.com
or http://domain.com,http://www.domain.com
or domain.com,www.domain.com

I still didn't succeed to have this Linkedin Share button work with your solution. If I put the JS code direct on my page then it show in my page and on your plugin. I don't have any JS Errors, It's just a simple JS code. Why this is a problem? It's been there since APR 7th 2012.

This is not the only problem I have with your JLinked component. In JCFBConnect when a user log in for the first time you can setup automatic registration. But with your JLinked component it ask to match a Joomla user or fillout the registration form. How do I get this JLinked to work like JCFBConnect ?

Thank you

Pierre-Andre,
First off, for registration with JLinked, it's not possible to have the automatic registration process simply because LinkedIn doesn't allow us to fetch the user's email address. Therefore, the user has to enter it manually, and that's the reason for the registration form. You're still able to import more information, and we can help you remove the other field (name, password, username) if you'd like and have those automatically generated. In the next version, we'll have options to hide those fields, but the email will still be required to be input.

For the API settings, I apologize for not getting the guide updated properly. The new config guide was never pushed to the live site with the changes. I've made the update. For multiple domains, you should put the URLs in like:
site.com/,http://www.site.com
Please not that the domain settings are cached by LinkedIn, so it may take a few hours for the updated values to work on your site.

The LinkedIn share button doesn't actually require an API key, which is why you can add the Javascript by itself and things will work. However, all of the other social widgets for LinkedIn and some of the features we're working on for improving the Login With LinkedIn flow do require an API key to be initialized with the Javascript.

Hope that helps answer your questions, but if you have others, let us know. If they happen to be unrelated to this post, please create a new topic.

Thanks,
Alex

This is a really good reason. The JSON is returning the Name and Last Name of the Linkedin Profile. As per the username and password you can generate like you do with JFBConnect as the user will use the Linkedin Signup button.

My problem with the Linkedin Share button is that in JFBConnect I have activated the Linkedin Share Button but it dosen't show on my web site blog view www.chalets-rentals.com but If I add the code for the share button in one of my article on the page or when I show a linked in module on the page then the JFBConnect content plugin is showing the button you can see at www.chalets-a-louer.com

Thanks

Pierre-Andre,
Very sorry for the delayed response! Glad you understand the email requirement and the reason for the registration page.

For the LinkedIn Share button, on your chalets-rentals.com site, I'm seeing the LinkedIn Share button on your home page. Is this still an issue? Is there anything I can help with? Looking at the source, I'm only seeing the LinkedIn Javascript stuff that JLinked (I believe) is including, not your own code. If I'm wrong though, or there are any other issues, just let me know!

Thanks,
Alex
