Is there any way to prevent a reload when a user fails to login?

We are using extended user-fields in the login process and when a user tries to create an account with linkedin (using full profile) - if there is some error and the account is not created ("unable to save user" error message), all the data has to be re-entered again as opposed to only the fields causing the problem. Is there any way to point out the error to the user, and not require them to fill out all the data again?

Thanks!

There should be ways that we can re-populate the data, but obviously aren't right now. However, there is some Javascript validation on the fields already. What kinds of fields are throwing the error, and why? That will help us determine what's going wrong and where it should be fixed.

Thanks,
Alex

So there is no "error" with JLinked - it is an error of user login - for example if the user enters the wrong password, passwords don't match, or sets an email that is already in the database. When this happens the page throws an error (correctly) but it also refreshes all the previously filled out fields, not just the ones that caused the error. I am trying to figure out if there is a way not to reset the whole form.

Thanks!

In Joomla 1.6, this happens naturally for a lot of the fields.. it's a bonus of the newer system. There should be a few ways to do this, but will have to investigate a bit. Let me know how the JomSocial profile plugin file I sent you works, and I can likely send you a few lines of code to add to that which will hopefully do what you're looking for.

Definitely agree that this is something that will need to go in a future release and have added it to our bug tracker.

Thanks,
Alex

Just resent to your [email protected] account that you're registered with here. If that's not the correct one, let me know. Also, it's a PHP file, so it's possible spam filters are catching it. Can zip first if that helps.

Thanks,
Alex
