Topic-icon Interaction between JLinkedn and JFBConnect

I am not quite sure how I have managed this but when I remove the JFBConnect Social Content Plug-in Like icons from my article, the Jlinked icons disappear in the text.

Happy to provide you with backend access.

Also as you can see the social line needs to formatting, but not sure where the css is that controls it. And width of people profile boxes at the bottom needs to adjst from 450 to 550 (not sure whether that is something we can control).

Oh - and forgot to say - the InShare seems not to lift the title and intro properly. Any pointers?

Sorry to throw all these things at once!

For the LinkedIn icons dissappearing into text, I think it's because the width setting for the Like button is too large. In the Social configuration tab, set the width to something like 50 (instead of the current 25), and hopefully that will help. You do mention that this happens when you "remove the JFBConnect Social Content Plug-in Like icons from my article"... but if you remove it, then I'm not sure why it shows at all.. so assuming that's a typo. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The width parameter is something that was missing in LinkedIn's documentation. It's something that we'll be adding in the next release, but it's not something that's really easy to add to individual widgets right now. If -all- your Member widgets, for instance, need to be 450px, we can likely help you hard code that now if you'd like. Otherwise, that will be in JLinked 1.1

For Title/Description, those are actually pulled from the Open Graph tags on the page. JLinked doesn't currently support Open Graph tags.. however, JFBConnect supports them swimmingly, and they are actually showing up on the page properly. The first time something is shared, LinkedIn may not have scanned the page for the proper tags, so it just guesses what's best. When I just hit the LI Share button, this was what I saw (which looks correct):
Car finance sales increase as dealer scheme boosts customer service
assetfinanceinternational.com
Asset Finance International - The premier community for Leasing Professionals. News, analysis and leasing...

If that's not, let us know!

No I mean if I select NONE in JFBConnect Social Content for articles (as opposed to TOP) then the tags in the text eg {JLinkedShare} half way through the text disappear throughout as well.

It is correct (bother!) but most arent - see www.assetfinanceinternational.com/201112...aw-from-leasing.html

Ah - its where the article requires registration to view. Is there anyway around that? Do you want me to email you a password so you can see

I get:

Registration assetfinanceinternational.com
Asset Finance International - The premier community for Leasing Professionals. News, analysis and leasing... Edit
(which is the front page of my registration form)

I will look at the width parameter and try to deal with it. Many thanks - and sorry for all the questions.

Tags missing - Sounds like a bug we'll have to investigate. Can't imagine what would be causing that off-hand, but will try to get you an answer (may take a day or so).

Pages behind a registration wall should still be ok, but it may take LinkedIn a little longer as it will only be able to scan the page when a registered user loads it, and their Javascript on the page loads. They won't be able to hit it on their own leisure to see the changes. This, however, is conjecture as we haven't tested this case yet. The above description is definitely how Facebook works (it doesn't follow the redirect and use those tags). It's possible however that LinkedIn doesn't behave the same way. We'll setup a test site and play with it as well. And we'd recommend you keep an eye on the tags to see what happens on your pages.

Hope that helps, and no worries for the questions. We love support. It helps us figure out how to improve our extensions both from usability and new features standpoints. Thank you for your support of us with your subscription!

Good luck, and let us know how else we can help,
Alex

Many thanks for your attention on this. We are very enthusiastic about the program. As B2B users, our visitors are avid users of LinkedIn. This allows us them (with your proposed upgrade) to maintain their profiles once (in LinkedIn) and have their profile on our site maintained too.

There is an upgrade to LinkedIn connect from wherever the visitor is (public or registered Lnkedin users, or non LinkedIn user) and we don't need SSL.

Great.

Edward,
Yeah, we're gonna have to ask for that backend access, if you don't mind. You can private message me the details by clicking the arrow under my picture to the left and hitting the mail icon. I'm a bit stumped why disabling the social icons would remove other, unrelated {JLinkedxx} tags.

As for JLinked in general, we're very happy that you're enjoying the extension. Not needing an SSL certificate took a lot more to implement (the common way for LinkedIn authentication is to require one), but we're glad we took the effort to do it, as it will help a lot of users out.

Once we get your issues figured out, please consider posting a rating and a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory for JLinked. We just got it listed on there, and new products can always use all the help they can get:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...on-cloud-based/18957

Thanks again for your patience and feedback!

Edward,
Sorry for the delay. Took a little bit of digging and testing on your site to find a weird configuration problem.

The short story is that your LinkedIn application seems to be configured wrong. When it doesn't work, I'm seeing the following Javascript Error:

Error: JavaScript API Domain is restricted to assetfinanceeurope.com

Please edit your LinkedIn application and update the Javascript Domain to your actual domain, and things should work.

The longer story, and why it works when you enable JFBConnect, is because some of the social widgets can work without an API-key. When JFBConnect is inserting the LinkedIn Javascript API, it works in this mode, and the widgets work. When it's disabled, JLinked is enabled, using the API-key, and LinkedIn is rejecting it.

Hope that makes sense, and let us know if updating the Javascript Domain URL doesn't fix the problem.

Thanks,
Alex

I have now updated it, and it doesnt work. (in fact started with correct setting, and amended because I remembered international was just an alias - and wondered if this was the problem).

Here is the setting www.assetfinanceinternational.com/images/li.jpg

Where do I see the error logged?

Your Javascript API domain is missing the www. LinkedIn is very picky about it's widgets on the proper site. While I agree, it shouldn't be called "Domain" in the setting, that's not something I can change.

Think that will do it.
