OK. I am getting a heap of ModSecurity messages - so this may be a problem with my server. Taking it onto a different server, and will test there.

Let us know how it goes on the new server. Not sure why you'd have problems with just that button, but strange things can always happen.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

Hi - I decided to start with JFBConnect (better used) and on a server without much security - and found that whenever I dont use LinkedIn connections it works.

So here is a page that works: www.brixtonfencingclub.com/index.php?opt...d=1:results&Itemid=9
(where I used a modules to generate FB like etc.)

Here is a page where I used the "Content Plugin - Like" to appear at the top of the page. It appears to freeze with message "Connect to www.linkedin.com"
www.brixtonfencingclub.com/index.php?opt...icle&id=51&Itemid=60. I did see it once - but then it disappeared.

That 2nd page is loading just fine for me. LinkedIn Share is there and the page is speedy as can be.

Can you try from different browsers or a different computer? It's possible you have some blocker enabled that's preventing it, or something in between you and the site is actually blocking LinkedIn. There's a lot of firewalls and other things out there the block random things depending on if you're at a company, web cafe, etc.

Fo another test, try hitting our blog, and see if the LinkedIn button gives you issues there:
www.sourcecoast.com/blog

Let us know. From my standpoint though, the page is acting just fine (Chrome on a Mac.. I reloaded many times). Can test more if you'd like.

Thanks,
Alex

OK. Found that I couldnt even ping LinkedIn. Restarted my router to get a new external IP, and could access both LinkedIn, and Get access to the page above.

So something that I am doing here caused my IP to get blocked by LinkedIn.

I am using an alias for my server, and I used the alias rather than the main domain when setting up the LinkedIn API for JLinkedIn. Could that have done it?

Nope, it wasn't your server. I could see it just fine, so that localizes it more to your computer/IP. I'd guess it was something, like you said, along the lines of your IP being blocked from LinkedIn. They can do that if they detect spam or lots of other things. They're probably also tied into Spamhaus and other monitoring services as a precaution.

It's very possible it wasn't even you that did the 'bad' thing that got your IP blocked. It could have been someone else before you had it, and you're just the unlucky person who got hit. Unfortunately, it does happen.

If it happens again, with the new IP, that's obviously something to get worried about, because then it does point to something you're doing. There isn't any normal reason you should be blocked, and your API configuration shouldn't have anything to do with it. At all.

Hope that helps, and hopefully, it was just a random oddity.

Good luck,
Alex

Many thanks - I am very enthusiastic about this application - and will start afresh tomorrow. Late here ;)
