Hi, I noticed in jomsocial something very annoying: if a jomsocial user (not logged with facebook) link his jomsocial profile to facebook (in edit profile) after that he can't use his jomsocial credentials (user/password) anymore, he have to login with facebook from now on.. This make no sense.
But, more annoyingly I'm not sure about that, it happen sometimes, not every time. Maybe someone can confirm that?

can I avoid that using JFBConnect?

JFBConnect has no such restrictions on how users can authenticate. A user can associate their Joomla account with all 10 of the social networks we support and they'll be able to login with each of those *and* their Joomla credentials whenever they return.

Additionally, we have great support for JomSocial built-in as well as JomSocial has great support for JFBConnect. That means it should be a very easy transition to JFBConnect for our Facebook and other social network integration.

I hope that helps answer your question, but if you're concerned about anything else, just let us know. We have excellent support that should be able to help you through anything.

Thanks,
Alex

We have a demo site for JFBConnect, but it's running an older version of both JFBConnect and JomSocial.. so it's not completely up-to-date with the latest changes in either extension:
demo.sourcecoast.com/

We don't promote the demo site anymore simply because we have a 30-day money back guarantee and we suggest users simply try JFBConnect on their own to see how it will work for them. If you can't get things going, you can get a refund without any issues. It's a better way to test things out instead of using some demo site that won't be setup like your site anyways.

I hope that helps, but of course, if you have any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

very thanks. I see JFBConnet allows facebook invitation too. I use Techjoomla's Invitex in my site, I just want to be sure there is a proved compatibility, and very important, this feature won't make my site even more confusing for the avarage user :)

There are many sites that use both the JFBConnect and Invitex extensions together with no problems. As far as whether this would add complexity to your site, JFBConnect is very configurable and you can add as many or as few features as you want.

JFBConnect has an option to import any previous connections made in JomSocial. With that, your users shouldn't even notice that they're logging in with a different extensions (unless you're asking for more permissions for additional profile information that JFBConnect supports which JomSocial does not).

Beyond that, we have multiple options for existing users to connect their accounts to any of the social networks we support. The linking can happen if their social network email address is the same as an existing Joomla user on your site, or they can login with their existing account and use the SCLogin module to authenticate and connect to another social network, or various other ways.

I hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know.

Finally, right now, we're having a $10 off discount of all new subscriptions. The last promotion we ran was in November of 2013 (a year and a half ago), so if you're interested, nows the time to try JFBConnect out.

Thanks,
Alex
