Hey Alex,

Congrats on all the recent great releases. I'm about to re-up my sub (hopefully this week.)

I noticed you mentioned that you were on the JED and so I went to check it out. I noticed Twitter had a heavier presence than I remember and it got me thinking

1) Did you build any Twitter TWEET functionality into JFBC (or Linked In for that matter.) And if it wasn't you, do you know which module they are using on this page for the TWEET and Linked IN Functions? extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-...ook-integration/7215

2) Do you have thoughts on Twitter as a conenct method (OAuth?) And have you any plans to take your deep experience with Facebook Connect and leverage into a JTConnect product?

Cheers,
Sundog

Yes, we're now used as an authentication method on the JED, which is very exciting for us (and we need to promote it a little more.. glad you saw that).

As for Twitter functionality, it's something we've looked into, but do not currently have. With that said, we're currently investigating a LinkedIn component with similar functionality to JFBConnect, which would allow for quick registration, import profile information, and have the In (Like for LinkedIn) button. Twitter is actually probably easier to implement, and we do plan on integrating it at some point, but it's not anything that will be in the near future for now.

Hope that helps explain where we're at... basically, we're very, very happy with our Facebook integration and we have a loyal userbase who is also happy with that integration.. so we will likely will have different authentication schemes available over the next few months.

Well, I would definitely purchase that (LinkedIn) as soon as it became available. I am hoping to use your JFBC in another upcoming project and I've been holding off for 4.0 and for the official drop of the JomSocial to FB plug in.

On the subject of Twitter. My strong intuition is that you would get a bigger uptake of that (and more revenue) from a Twitter-auth product than from LinkedIn but I could be wrong. Perhaps you could take a poll on this thread or someplace else. I personally would also be willing to "pre-purchase" (a'la kickstarter) a Twitter component if it would be as easy as you say (and if that would accelerate it's availability.) Have you ever considered doing something like that to fund development. I'm sure your development resources are spread quite thin and that other customers besides me might be willing to help speed something to market in this manner.

Sundog,
We just sent the initial version of the FB/JomSocial application off which will push status updates from JomSocial out to Facebook to a few users who have requested it. It will be included in the full 4.0 release as well. For more information on the plugin, see the post below:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...my-status?p=2#p11642

As for 4.0, it's still on track for later this month, and is going to be a big release with a lot of new great features. It's being delayed a little now as a critical part that we were waiting for Facebook to deliver on July 1st was delayed until July 20th. We're still hoping to get the release out by the end of this month, and think that's very likely as the other features for the release have mostly been implemented.

Regarding Twitter, and other, integrations, we're currently investigating a few.. Google Plus, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The 4.0 release is expected to be a very solid, and feature-full release, which will give us some time to investigate/develop integrations with these other systems. Additionally, we've been working for the last few releases to make our code-base a little more generic to accomodate integrations from other systems easier, which will hopefully make development go smoother. We definitely like the idea of a survey of some sort, and can see including that in one of the upcoming newsletter's well be sending.

Thanks for the suggestions, and best of luck to you. Should you need anything else, or have any other feedback in the future, we'd love to hear them!
Alex
