The terms of the subscription can be found in the link below (navigable by going to Extensions -> Subscription FAQ):

The quick answer is that you aren't required in any way to renew. You can still use the extension past the subscription expiration, you simply loose access to download the newest releases and we don't prioritize your support requests.
