There can be various reasons for where and how an action are displayed, as noted above. If the object type is something that Facebook could recognize algorithmically by it's name, if it's an object that another user has interacted with before (whether through an action or clicking the Like button) and multiple other things will affect where it goes.
Additionally, Facebook also needs to scan the contents of the pages of your site to grab the proper Open Graph tags. When a page is brand new, you can have an action against it, but the information won't fully be in Facebook's system for a while. In that case, it will get much lower prominence until Facebook has fully vetted it out with it's automated tools.
For both cases above, I'd assume that if you go to your Facebook home page and click the "View Activity Log" button in the bottom right of your cover photo, both action types will be shown there. Again though, what shows in the Timeline is dependent on a ton of different factors of which we have no control.
