Hi,

It's probably a real "Noob" question, but I would like to have a image and a description when someone presses my "Like" button on the website like on the image in the attachment.
No only my websitename and the url appears.
Is there any tutorial how I can fix this?
It probably has to do with my bad English understanding?

Please, can someone help me with this?

Thnx for helping me!

That information is set by using Open Graph Tags on your pages. JFBConnect will try to automatically set those tags when it can and should always include the title and description of the page. When possible, we'll add the image tag as well.

There's likely 2 reasons the data isn't showing properly on your site:
1) You're using Joomla 3.2.0 and have "GZip Compression" enabled in the Global Configuration area. There seems to be a bug with that setting in Joomla 3.2.0 that we're investigating. Please try disabling it for now. That should make the title and description show up better.
2) The images do not look to be a part of the article itself and are likely using another extension. JFBConnect can automatically add images that are part of the article to the Open Graph Tag data, but we don't look into other 3rd party extensions. For now, you can add the following 'tag' to the article text to set the image:
{SCOpenGraph image=https://eosfoto.nl/images/Zeche_E/Zeche_Ewald_05.jpg}
Once added, you can use the Facebook Open Graph Debug Tool to test what they see for pages on your site:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...en%2Furbex%2Fzeche-e
Right now, if you click that link you'll see an Error message because of #1 above.

I hope that helps explain, but if not, let me know!
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thank you for supporting me!
I switcht the GZIP-pagecompressing of, but it decreases the pageload of my site substantial.
I suppose this isn't fixed in the new version 5.2.2?
So please let know when the GZIP-bug is fixed.

Thank you,

Peatsmoke (aka Marco)

This is not an issue with JFBConnect at all. It only happens when GZip compression is enabled in Joomla 3.2.0. It doesn't happen in Joomla 2.5.x or Joomla 3.0.0 - 3.1.6. We are going to investigate further to understand what Joomla is doing differently in 3.2.0 and, if possible, we'll try to implement a workaround or provide a fix to Joomla.org.

Again though, this is not something specific to JFBConnect. Any Joomla 3.2.0 website is unable to be 'scanned' by Facebook if GZIP compression is enabled. It doesn't matter whether JFBConnect is installed or not.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

Testing from the page above, the title, description and image are being detected by Facebook. Please see the results in their Debug Tool:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...en%2Furbex%2Fzeche-e

Please note that it can take a few days for Facebook to see any changes you make to the Open Graph tags on your page. You can also run a page through the debug tool, which will automatically update their cached values.

I hope that helps,
Alex

I understand the open graph / gzip problem in Joomla 3.2 (and now 3.2.1) is not due to JFBC, but there seems scant posts on this elesewhere so I thought I'd ask and see if you know of a solution yet, or if you would post one here when you do so I can be updated?

Again, I understand it's nothing to do with JFBC - which btw I bought because it so amazingly simplified getting FB stuff on my site. Way to go!

It's definitely on our to-do list to investigate, and we're hoping to get to the bottom of the problem over the next week or so. With the holidays and some other changes we've been working on, this just hasn't been a critical priority. As more users move to Joomla 3.2.x, it's becoming more important though. Whatever we find, we'll definitely post where we can and either provide a fix to Joomla or implement on in JFBConnect.

I hope that helps answer your question, and sorry I don't know more right now.

Thanks,
Alex

Your current issue is not related to the GZip problem. With that issue, Facebook isn't able to 'see' the contents of your page at all. Right now, the Debugger is able to read your page. The problem is that on all of your pages, there is an og:url tag like below:
<meta property="og:url" content="https://eosfoto.nl"/>
That's telling Facebook that every page of your site should use the Open Graph tags from your home page, which is incorrect. Can you go to the JFBConnect -> Open Graph -> Configuration area. In there, check that the "Defaults" box doesn't have a line like:
url=https://eosfoto.nl/
If so, remove it. You shouldn't be setting a default URL for your site, or else the above issue will happen.

If there isn't a default setting like that, let me know, as it means something else is going wrong.

I hope that helps,
Alex
