Hi All,

I'm relatively new here and after a few days of trying out the freely available SCLogin, I decided to go full steam ahead and order the JFBConnect and I'm at this early stage relatively happy that I've done so. :D

However, even after reading this document www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/open-graph/ about Open Graph and the steps required to set this aspect up, I'm still at a total loss as to how to go about getting it right for my site.

Our site is a football supporters group in the UK Take a look here... and therefore if you have more experience than me with Jomsocial and SCLogin with JFBConnect, you can maybe imagine the kind of things I may want to have going back and forth from our site to a users FB account but I just don't know how to start this. :/

I'm hoping for some guidance and that you will go easy on me, being a newbie to here and the systems etc. :)

I look forward to hearing from you / somebody in due course.

Regards,
Rob

Rob,
The best place to start is to let you know what we support 'out of the box' and then ask which of those features you'd like and/or give feedback on what you think we're missing.

First, for Facebook/Google registration, we support logging users in and importing their data from the social network. I'm assuming you have this setup, but if not, let me know.

Then, for Open Graph Actions, which post 'activity' on your site back to Facebook, the features we have for JomSocial are:
* Posting to Facebook when a user uploads a photo. This photo could be to their own album, group or other JomSocial area.
* Posting to Facebook when a user joins a JomSocial group.
* Creating a custom 'button' that a user can click to share the current page to their Facebook Timeline. These buttons can work on *any* page of your site, not just JomSocial pages:
** A custom "I like" button that can work on your profile pages, groups, albums, etc
** A custom "I'm going" (or I went) button on a Football listing page. The user could even tag their friends that they're going with.
** A custom "What the hell" button for when people can't understand how their team lost :)

Let me know if any of those sound interesting to you, or you think we're missing something, and we'll gladly help get you started.

Thanks,
Alex

Good Morning Alex,

Thank you for taking the time to reply and in such detail, it's very much appreciated indeed...

I have setup the whole "AutoTune" and the Facebook & Google Apps and other relevant configuration but got stuck at the OpenGraph set-up, as you now already know.

Essentially the 5 points you've mentioned about what this extension can provide are right up my street but it's how I go about understanding setting it up to be frank. I'm quite joomla and 3rd party extension savvy on the whole but this one is blowing me away with it's ability, features and it's so exciting to know this kind of functionality can be delivered to our members soon... what an extension from you guys!!!!!!!!

However, I've attempted following the documentation steps for the OpenGraph as I've previously mentioned, but I suppose my brain isn't linking at present with for e.g. the 5 ideas / functionalities you've mentioned in your original reply to me, how I put those in to actual practice if that makes sense?

I look forward to your reply, hope you have a great weekend.

Regards,
Rob

Alex, do you have any thoughts on the above last post at all... as I really want and need to get the OpenGraph ball rolling but just don't know where to start, apart from my thoughts in my last post above, to your thoughts in your previous post to me.

:/

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Rob

Rob,
Sorry for the delay. As mentioned, we're trying to get Example documentation up to go with the configuration guide we already have. We just put up the first page for the configuration of JomSocial Photo Upload Actions . Please have a look and let me know if helps more to have a visual of the different areas in Facebook and JFBConnect to configure.

The pictures above were taken directly from our Joomla Social Networking Demo Site , which posts actions to the users Timeline when they upload photos in JomSocial.

I hope that helps get you started. Most other objects/actions follow a similar process, but we're still planning to put other screenshot tutorials online soon.

Thanks,
Alex
