I noticed the other day when I tried cleaning up my menu a bit and organizing my articles a little bit better that I lose all my likes and comments on my articles. Is there a way to avoid that or retain your likes or is this some issue with the link changing between your site and facebook? I changed it back to the way it was 'cause the likes look good.

site is www.concertmaniac.com

Thank you,
Kristoff

Unfortunately, Facebook keeps track of it's social features based on the URL of the page. The ways to retain the Likes/Comments when re-arranging your pages is to:
1) Update your Like or Comment module/tag to use the href of the 'old' page.
2) If you're using the JFBCContent plugin to automatically insert those buttons, you'd need to set the following Open Graph tag on each page:
{SCOpenGraph url=http://yoursite.com/link-to-old-page}
The last one *should* work, but you'll need to test. Additionally, when the page is Like'd or Commented on, the 'old' URL is what the user will be sent to, so you'll need to make sure you have a 301 redirect setup from your old pages to your new ones. That's good for SEO purposes as well though.

Let me know if that helps or you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Alex

Cool, thanks, Alex. Now that you mention all of that I don't know if I want to do all that work haha. But I'll save all the info for if I change my mind.

On a side note, this extension makes my content spread like wild fire, I love it. Great job. Is there a list of all these open graph tags in the documentation anywhere?

Kristoff,
Yeah, it's a bit of a pain to re-arrange links. That can cause SEO issues as well and other problems, so it's never something to take lightly.. but sometimes, its just necessary. We agree FB can be a little annoying when doing so, but I can understand their position as well.. you could easily abuse the system by getting users to Like/Comment on one URL and then switch it to another later on.

Is there a list of all these open graph tags in the documentation anywhere?

Not really. There's a lot of tags that can be used, but some are specific to certain 'types' of pages ('actor' works on 'movie' pages). You can also give your pages a completely custom object name ("myfancypage") and set custom tags for it ('coolest-person'='alex'). JFBConnect lets you set any tag, but the title, description and image are by far the most important for every page. If there's specifics you're looking for, let us know. We're also working on more video tutorials to help give ideas on what can be done.

Thank you! If you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review with you compliments on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect. It's certainly not required and we love reading your comments here, but it's great for others to see too :)
