Open Graph object is not correct

Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

I found that the open graph of my website is not correct.
I added the object "PC Game" in Facebook App: http://screencast.com/t/U73gg8grB4p
Then I added an Object in JFBconnect: http://screencast.com/t/eYjyvGkQY0FI
However, when I liked the listing, the Feed say: http://screencast.com/t/zvU9fELFKt
It say that I liked a tablet listing...
Could you please help me on this?

Thanks,
Giang Anh

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

The parameters in you JFBConnect Object configuration aren't correct. The "type" should be the exact type from Facebook's "Get Code" link, and should look something like "pc_game". There won't be any spaces in it.

Can you post a link to the URL you're testing with so we can see the actual og:type tag? That may help as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

Here is the link I used to test.

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

The Open Graph tag specified on that page looks like:

Code:

<meta property="og:type" content="danhgia:memory"/>

Do you know why it would be set to 'memory'? Is that another object type you've created? Should that be associated with different listings and not that one?

Anything you can let us know would help. That type doesn't seem to match up with PC Game or Tablet, so I'm a little confused as to where it's coming from.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

Yes, memory is another object I created for the Memory listing. I don't know why it shows like that.

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Can you disable the 'memory' object and re-run that page through the Facebook URL Debug Tool and test again? See if the correct og:type is being set from the other object you have setup then and let us know. It's much easier to test/debug one object at a time.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

Here is the result.
Note:
- I correct the type to "pc_game" already.
- I also change the Description Length to 40. I don't know why it's still too short.
- video.tv_show is another object I use for another listing

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Giang,
I can't really tell from above.. are you still having issues? If so, what's wrong with the object settings now?

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

The link http://danhgia.net/game-pc-console/100- … k-infinite
When I tested with  Facebook URL Debug Tool it showed: http://screencast.com/t/Y8mmhvWA
video.tv_show is another object I use for another listing. It means that the object is still incorrect.

Thanks,

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

What if you disable the video.tv_show object? Does it work then? Again, it's easiest to debug these things with just one object at a time. So, let's get the object for that page working, and then try to enable other objects to see where something goes wrong and why.

Let me know if disabling the video.tv_show object (and other objects) helps. Then, we can help you start re-enabling other objects so they don't interfere with these pages.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

After disabling all objects except pc_game, it worked: http://screencast.com/t/HaGmNBQ8p

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Glad to hear that worked. To get the others working, I would recommend enabling just one at a time, and see if it 'breaks' again. If so, check that the category selection (in the right) isn't the same as your pc_game object.

JFBConnect should pick the most specific object for the page, so if you have one object for a parent category (like "All Products") and another object for a specific sub-category (like "PC Games"), it should be using the PC Games object, but if not, let us know.

Mainly, try to help figure out why the 'other' object was selected and we'll gladly help figure out a way to make them both work together.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

Right after I enabled the second object, it's incorrect again: http://screencast.com/t/aWIbRSD4t6E
The category of mobile_phone is different with pc_game: http://screencast.com/t/c2aESOzV

Update: if I enable the 3rd object, it will use that object. So JFBconnect always uses the latest object.

Thanks,
Giang Anh

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

If a Directory is set, that will be used. So, if you're using 2 separate categories for each object, set the "Directory" to "-- No Selection --" which will then make the object work only for the specific category you set.

Definitely let me know how that goes, and hopefully that helps get you going!

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

Hello,

I did as your suggestion and the dev tool show correctly: http://screencast.com/t/ruKSYzgA
However, when I like a listing FB still shows incorrect: http://screencast.com/t/wDL5xIjkA
It shows the result mobile phone instead of restaurant.

Thanks,
Giang Anh

Re: Open Graph object is not correct

After you use the FB Debug Tool, you may need to wait a day or so for it to work correctly. If the debug tool shows it as correct though, that's the important thing.

Additionally, if you've already Like'd the page, it can take Facebook a while longer to update their data about the page because they don't like changing the Like's a user has made or else administrators could 'switch' what someone Like's. That could obviously cause some privacy and public concerns.

In general though, it sounds like you got it right, you may just need to wait a bit and test again.

Thanks,
Alex
