Hi,
I need to test on my staging server but JFBconnect won't work. Do I need to create a completely new and separate Facebook app using the domain of my developer site, or is there a quicker way to get this working using my existing domain.

Appreciate a quick response with any links about how to get this done. I set up my FB app a long time ago and I can't remember the process, plus I think it's changed.

Thanks
Peter

Peter,

There are two options:

1. If you use the existing app for your new domain, you can use Autotune to set a number of settings (which may break your existing site). However, there are some fields such as OAuth Redirect URIs that are required for Facebook Login, but not accessible through FB's API to us. You'd have to set these manually. If you went this route, the existing site's would not be configured properly.

2. The safest way so that you don't break existing site functionality is to create a new FB application. You can use our setup guide to get started for a new app. But the easiest may be just to go through tab by tab of the FB app settings. It really shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get a new app set up if you're just copying from an existing one.

It's really a matter of if you need the existing site to continue working while you're testing the staging server.

Thanks for responding. Am checking your recommendations now. To be clear I actually need my live site to continue to work well with JFBC. So it's a challenge of recreating the same functionality on my development site so I can test things that use JFBC. This cannot in any way impact my production site. Seems this is the way to try QUOTE: But the easiest may be just to go through tab by tab of the FB app settings. Will check and let you know of any questions here.

Thanks

Yes, then creating a new application sounds like the way to go.

I see you can set up multiple domains. Couldn't I just add my developer domain to my existing app for the live site? I noticed this on this page when setting up the new app: d.pr/i/cKntVA

You could do that, but you'll also have to add redirect URIs for the new domain if you want Login to work. I'm not sure what you're trying to test so it may be worth the quick change to try it out quickly. However, there are some settings that only take one value such as Website URL and Page Tab URL only take one site value (not sure which others are like this too off the top of my head).

Hi there,
Seems I've had success. Once I realised I could add multiple domains into the app, I decided to just add the development site urls into my existing app. To my surprise the "Valid OAuth redirect URIs" was blank. Your documentation seemed to suggest this was necessary but my login worked without it. Anyway I entered the following in that field:
goodtalktnt.com/index.php?option=com_jfb...ck&provider=facebook
www.goodtalktnt.com/index.php?option=com...ck&provider=facebook
gtdev.morevida.com/index.php?option=com_...ck&provider=facebook
www.gtdev.morevida.com/index.php?option=...ck&provider=facebook

Since tested on both sites and they work. Would you mind just looking at the settings in this screencapture and let me know if I should change anything?

Thanks for your attention.

I don't see an attached screenshot, but the settings you listed above for the OAuth Redirect URIs look to be in the correct format.
